Ahhhhhh....

The other day I noticed that water was puddling in the boot of my Neptune 7500. Hmmm, I thought, that's a bit unusual.

I tried to probe the little hole in the bottom of the boot trough, that runs into a tube that empties into the sump area. No such luck. Even a Japanese style lacquered chopstick couldn't get very far. Either a bend in the tube, or a solid obstruction.

Fortunately it's a Maytag so servicing from the front is pretty easy. Just remove the door hinges, tilt the front panel back, and lift it out of its slots.

Once that's done, it's a simple matter to use a good pair of ordinary pliers to releast the tube clamps, remove the tube, and do an inspection.

Sure enough, there was some sort of rock hard solid gritty substance clogging the boot drain tube. A few more pokes with the chopstick broke it up, and a good hot rinse in the kitchen faucet restored it to normal condition.

Now the boot is draining normally and I can sleep at night.

Ahhhhhhh......
