Hi Henrik
Congratulations on your choice.
It strikes me as odd that EVs are often so big when weight is such an issue with EVs, but I guess that is what sells.
Your car certainly has its own style, I prefer the look of the Ioniq 5, but taste is a personal thing.
You mentioned a cost of 2K Euro to do timing chain and entertainment upgrade on your Polo - how much of that was the timing chain? My partner has a Skoda Fabia that uses (I think) the same engine as your Polo - 1.2 TSI - and we had the timing chain replaced for about $800 AUD which is under 500 Euro. That included replacing the tensioner, and using premium brand non-genuine components. The problem with that engine was that VW used a poor quality chain that stretched over time, creating rattles and eventually breaking with catastrophic result. Even the new chain supplied as a replacement by VW is not as strong as some non-genuine alternatives. We had an INA chain fitted which has a good reputation. Any way, water under the bridge for you.
Unfortunately here in Australia the trend is going the wrong way - EVs are a tiny proportion of sales, though growing fast. 10 years ago the best selling cars were Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3 and Hyundai i30. Now the best selling are Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux. Marketing BS has convinced people that they need a truck to take the kids to school and to buy groceries, because one day in the future they might want to have a brief drive in the outback. Crazy.
