Hey guys, so I just found out todd is getting sold in Australia again. I picked myself up a packet because I’m curious to see how they do and I’ll attach some photos of it in my local Woolworths.

P&G via various brand names dominates North American (Tide) and some parts of Europe (such as Fairy, Lenor and Ariel in UK) markets. In Mexico and South America "Ace" and "Ariel" are P&G's top shelf brands and do very well.
P&G has been in Australia/New Zealand since about 1956. Their focus has been on personal care, toiletries, various home cleaning products and other bits, but not really laundry detergents. In fact P&G has been in Australia/New Zealand for well over one hundred years if you count businesses and others who imported and sold their soaps and candles. anz.pg.com/brands/... insidefmcg.com.au/2024/04/17/pg-... For reasons known only to themselves P&G has never gone full in on Australia/New Zealand laundry product market. Leaving Colgate-Palmolive (now owned by Henkel Germany), Unilever, PZ Cussons (Radiant) and a few smaller local concerns to basically dominate market. www.unilever.com.au/brand.... www.henkel.com/554592-554592... CP, Unilever and Cussons so dominated OZ/New Zealand laundry product market they got themselves in hot water by running afoul of anti-competitive laws. www.accc.gov.au/media-rel... |

Tide liquid was or long since was sold in Oz, unless P&G withdrew product at some point after introduction.

Pictures of supermarket laundry product aisles circa 2010:
www.automaticwasher.org/c... You can see what P&G is up against. Things may have changed up a bit, but still. Kao's Biozet Attack apparently is a big seller in Oz/New Zealand. Bonus points many of this Japanese brand detergents work very well in cool or cold water. |
