Best Buy Insignia appliances
[Down to Last]

Has anyone used Best Buy’s brand of appliances under the Insignia brand name? I’m looking at a dishwasher
(link is attached) to eventually replace my GE profile dishwasher with control board problems.
We’ve used their TV sets for years which were very good and lasted a long time.

Just curious to know your thoughts.

Thanks!
David

That's a Midea made DW. The 3rd rack design is a dead giveaway.

For example, in Germany, Ottos "Hanseatic" brand sells such DWs:

My mum had such a DW and it's honestly somewhat disappointing.
Had 2 service calls in under 2 years, washed ok, dried meh, but reasonably quiet and cheap.

For under 500$ you can get an entry level LG that's probably a better performer.

For under 600$ you can get an entry level Bosch. That's definitely a better performer and more durable.
Or Whirlpool if the Bosches racking dosen't fit your need.

For all that is holy do take your crockery and glasses to the store before settling on a dishwasher....nothing more annoying than having your favorite dishes just not fit.  Older cheap Bosch were better with thinner (Corelle) dishes; WP was better with stoneware (Pfalzgraff etc). Newer expensive Bosch waste a little space to do better with stoneware.

bringing dishes

I truly believe it's important to bring your dishes with you to test each machine to see how well they fit so you can be able to use the dishwasher to wash dishes on a regular basis.

While on the subject of dishwashers...does anyone own a current Whirlpool portable dishwasher ? I think the Amana I saw in the store had the same upper rack and it didn't look big enough to even fit coffee mugs into. That would be a real problem. It's probably just best right now to stick with my portable GE.

Wow... I can't imagine hauling dishes to a big box or appliance store to see if they fit the dishwasher... but that's a great idea... although I think in MOST cases you can make it work...

It's usually a "one of everything" or a "the awkward ones" thing.

If you have really chunky plates, or your huge favourite mugs, or very specific cutlery you want to fit in that 3rd rack you've been eyeing.

Have seen how tight things can get if you love your tall drinking glasses and your extra wide plates plus going from 2 to 3 racks...

Agiflow I've had a few different dishwashers with the same top rack, and it is awful. I haven't owned a single coffee mug that has fit. The same with my drinking glasses. They fit on the outer row but that's it. I'm sure Corelle fits beautifully, but not my stoneware.

Midea appliances can generally be rather hit or miss. I own a dishwasher that was produced under the Criterion brand (Menard’s Exclusive) and after a year with it I can say that for the price we paid (around $400 on sale), it’s a solid little dishwasher. I cannot speak for their washers or refrigerators, but the dishwasher gets used usually every day or every other day, and we’ve yet to have a problem. The 3rd rack doesn’t inhibit the ability to fit anything in the second rack, and the height of the second rack can be adjusted. They do however make a cheaper option without the 3rd rack if that may be something that interests you.
