I found a link to a Whirlpool direct drive washer service manual in a thread in this forum. Is there a similar service manual for the matching Whirlpool gas dryer?
I am struggling with a KitchenAid branded dryer that is not heating. With the timer set, the start button pushed; the motor begins to turn and the ignitor lights up. But the gas valve does not open after the ignitor shuts off. My limited experience is that the typical failure is one of the solenoid coils is defective. I have two pair of used coils that have resistance values that are in spec. I also bought a new set of coils to try to solve the problem. One more unique symptom is that when the ignitor is lit there is a vibration/buzzing sound that may be from the gas valve. I have read, and been told, that gas valves rarely fail but everything seems to point to a bad gas valve. Any insight or direction to a Whirlpool gas dryer service manual would be appreciated.

Thank you for the response. I'm going to visit a used appliance dealer that has a storage building full of used (some beat) appliances to see if they will sell me a used gas valve. Sad story - I just scrapped a very rusty Whirlpool gas dryer left behind by a tenant a couple of weeks ago. I took all the thermisters from the backside and the motor and coils from the front side but did not take the gas valve cause they "never fail".
Bought a used gas valve asm from a local used appliance store for $40 cash (the asm included the coils and the ignitor). Dryer is once again functioning and I intend to run the first wash load thru it tomorrow.
