I have a Whirlpool WTW4900BW0 washer and it’s very loud on the spin cycle as said before, people told me it’s the bearing in the gearcase but i plan to run it until it eventually dies.

Do you have this issue with your Whirlpool belt drive washing machine? Say the model number of yours.

If it’s very loud in the spin cycle with nothing in it, you likely do have a bad bearing almost always because some water has gotten into the bearings.

It may continue to work for a while, however continuing to use it, will make it even more expensive to fix as you might ruin the mode shifter in the motor, etc.

Because they’re relatively inexpensive washers. Most people don’t fix them, whirlpool had a fair amount of problems with this on the earlier builds how old is your machine?

The last five years or so we’re hardly ever seeing this problem anymore on machines that were built later. Even the machines we have in commercial use at places like veterinary clinics seem to be holding up quite well, if you have hard water and tend to use too little detergent, they’re more likely to fail sooner because it destroys the water seal.

Unfortunately, over the history of automatic washers, many machines, both top load and front load of had early bearing failures because of seal problems, probably the worst we ever saw were the Speed Queen design machine sold by Maytag some of those didn’t last five years and they usually got trashed because of the difficulty of the . The VMW machines are at least easy to repair, but given the relatively low cost of them and the cost of the parts most people don’t repair them.

I think it’s a 2014.

B in 8th position of the model number indicates 2013 model-year.

The serial number is coded for the year and week of factory production if you want better age accuracy (the coding pattern is different for serial vs. model).  It could be 2014 production.

I looked it up and according to my serial number it is a 2014 model
