call it strange i curently own a maytag mvw6230hw going on its 5 year but after reading the last thread that it failed after 5 years is making me afraid sorry for sharing my toughs but i can say its well on that path with 1 not dispenseing hot water when set to warm or hot 2 when i use the deep fill option deep water wash i notice when the first drain starts the pump starts then stops for a sec then start the drain making me suspect that its on the path of failure right now can't do much but for the washer i curently have i think it might be a lemon since its not working as intented plus i can't rely on the wash time set on the secreen as it can add for no reason wash time or decrese wash time again sorry for sharing my toughs and my concerns here

I never understand why they don't find all these things that go wrong after a model is introduced to the market... I mean, I thought they researched and developed the crap out of these things. Wouldn't these problems show up during the MANY HOURS of testing they do on them? I mean, do they not even do R&D anymore?

You could try to have your washer fixed, but it may be a matter of time before something else breaks. At least that's what happened to my brother's machine, one part broke but still useable and then another one went where it was out of service. So they replaced it with this LG WM3400CW. Originally my sister-in-law wanted another top loader but I told her how much I love my LG front loader and that's the way to go nowadays. I think the era of top loaders are over in my books, there is no new top loader I'd buy anymore not even a SQ. SQ is just too expensive, especially their front loaders. If I had to buy a top loader today, I'd get a used direct drive. But, I have found that front loaders do a better job than a top loader. In fact, I once lived at a place where it had a front loader and a SQ classic top loader side-by-side, the SQ didn't clean as well as the front loader. So if I had to buy a new washer today, it'd be a front loader preferably LG.

Front loaders utilize gravity friction, have higher RPM, and they're more delicate on my laundry so I have less lint removal. I also appreciate that they're more quieter, use less electricity and water, and can fit in bigger loads. I have sensitive skin myself but my front loader does so well where I never needed to use free & clear detergent. As much as I love my Kenmore 90 Series top loader and will always be my favorite washer, my LG front loader is a night and day difference. You're welcome to still stick with top loaders which is fine but my house is never going back to a top loader.

My home was built in 1968 and my family has been its only owner. Since that time we are on its 5th dishwasher. It’s current one a Kitchenaid is 6 years old. So on average for us they last around 10 years. We had a caloric that was about 5 years and a Kitchenaid superba from 1999 last 20 years. You win some you lose some on everything.

It looks just like my old 1989 A211, but it has a lot more options.
Looks like it's a A712, never guess where I found it! www.automaticwasher.org/c... |

Its a Maytag A712 washer, TOL for its time. Made with the pitman transmission from 1984-June 1989. The lower o-ring seal was replaced with the lip seal beginning in June, 1986. The orbital transmission was installed in July, 1989 until its production end in 1990. The matching TOL dryer was a DE/DG 712 from 1984-early 1989 then replaced with the very short lived DE/DG 713 as a TOL dryer until its production end in 1990.

I had a small conversation in a youtube comment section with someone who posted a video of their horrible HE TL washer (I think it was from 2017) and miraculously it's made it and still working with no issues... He was watching it try to roll over a load and was cussing it... laughing at how ridiculous it was...I think it was a Kenmore TL washer...
He said he can't wait until it does and they replace it with a better TL... I said, "Why not just get a front load" He says there's nothing wrong with FL's, but that he just likes the way TL washers operate more... That they are more pleasing to watch or something like that... I disagree totally.. I think the coolness factor of a front loader is higher than a TL washer... Especially the clean washer cycle.. But to each their own I guess... if someone wanted to give me a brand new IN BOX HE TL washer, I would say no...I would rather have the worst rated front loader on the market. |
