1989 Whirlpool dark gray-panel DD. Thing's basic and a beauty! Was told it flooded laundry room out, and cannot turn the motor coupler by hand at all with agitator locked onto transmission (agitate mode) so either something fell in and jammed the pump or the transmission is seized up for some reason. Back of control panel on one side is a little unhappy too. Might have been a 2nd hand shop-victim machine. Base frame however is in marginally nice shape for it's age! May also have to source end caps for that control panel down the road. All in all, a really cool find for me indeed. Barrel lint filter agitator. 2 speed. Model# LA5200XTW0, serial# C92440824 = June of 1989.

Sure enough! (Found cause of stuck motor)

As you can see, indeed something got in and jammed that pump! Looks like a piece of towel or washcloth or something like that. Pump has also leaked in the past. I had one of these new old stock pumps that was that same part# (3348015) but I already have used it on my 1990 Whirlpool 3 speed DD. So I'll have to source a brand new one instead (unless ebay turns up something like that again)

It's nice to find one of these late 80s Whirlpools with the lint barrel agitators. 1988 was the same year we bought our first Whirlpool direct drive and it had the 5 vain Lint barrel. Just about the time Whirlpool started switching over to the now all too common DAA.
