Hello folks,
Yesterday while googling the net,I discovered a website for Hotpoint Australia(they have not been here for many, many years),and it shows that in March 2007 thye will be relesing a range of washing machines, refrigerators, dishwashers and some small appliances.
At the moment you can get a range of air0conditioners but that is it, however they will of course be imported from China(what else is new?)but made to specifications from the Indesit company.
It will be interesting to see them, could our U.K. friends possibly advise on what they might be like quality wise.
Many Thanks.
Steve.

Hi Steve,

Hotpoint/Indesit aren't necessarily the best machines reliability/quality wise - they are low-mid range machines over here and not as good as Electrolux machines when it comes to quality. However, I have learnt recently that they are quite interesting machines when it comes to washday drama and that, distribution rinses & drains etc and people who tend to have the new Hotpoint models on this site are happy with the performance.

But as I said, especially since Indesit took Hotpoint over, quality-wise they aren't too smart. Although, I do have it on good authority from a friend, that the internals of the Aqualtis machines are indeed of better quality than late 80s/early 90s Hotpoints, although the Aqualtis machines are of a completely different design to the standard First Edition/Aquarius/Ultima machines.

Have you got a link at all to the site(s) you found? That would be great!

Jon

Hmmm.

They used the Indesit company logo on the website. But under washers it seems they are also planning to offer twin tubs and top loaders which we know are not made by the Indesit company. I would say they have licenced the name of Indesit and will offer cheap Chinese made machines.

Dont get me wrong Haier for example makes nice machines but some like the Centrex are just awful.

They do have TV's for sale seen them in the Good Guys and just cheap tv's not much to get excited about at all - and Fancy having a TV with Hotpoint on it.

The Ariston Aqualtis is now on sale in Harvey Norman and I must say that I didnt go much on it from the pictures I seen but now I have seen one in the metal I am very impressed with the finish and the convience of the machine.

Hotpoint t.v.'s

Hi Arrrooohhh,
Yes I agree with you actually, Hotpoint does seem like a strange brand for televisions, funny though as a very young fella(I am nearly 43 now),I do vaguely remember an appliance called the Hotpoint Vertical Grill and Hotpoint jugs and toasters.
I think their advertising was done by the famous Australian actress Gwen Plumb.
Just to divert a little I also remember older brands such as Pye,Kriesler,H.M.V.,Speedie.
Oh dear!I guess I must be getting on in years rapidly l.o.l.l.o.l.l.o.l..
Cheers.
Steve.
