Is it a newer company, or an established one?

You've mentioned White Knight dryers. Are there White Knight washers?

If there are, are they decent machines?

Thanks in advance,

Lawrence/Maytagbear

Hey !

The actual company is called Crosslee- they are best known over here for dryers and Hostess trolleys(thats heated food servers- nothing interesting lol!!). They do however "badge engineer" other appliances, I believe their current washers are disguised Merloni Servis machines.

They produce the only domestic gas dryer we have over here- its pretty much identical to the electric ones to look at but MUCH faster!

White Knight are a great budget buy dryer. They do the job reasonably well, are basic and easy to operate. And on the whole good value for money.

The Average price for the full sized, reverse action model is around £129 or about $254

The average Price for the compact, reverse action model is around £109 or about $214.

Below the features are listed...

Also from looking at the photos of White Knight washers, I would say they look a bit Beko'ish?

What does everyone else think of this brand on the whole ?

Kinda but I believe their washing machines today match with Matsui machines, which I believe are also known as Soveriegn

I agree with Dan, I think there great appliances at cheap prices, I own the Compact version which i must say has been a good dryer which drys a decent sized load in a short time, my only problem with it is that after 5-6 years of very light use the Thermostat seems to have gone on the dodgy side as it heats to dangerously high temperarures! which is very uncommon for these kind of dryers I think, maybe im just unlucky!!

Have to agree they look like sovereign machines as hotpointwf220 said, which are made by Whirlpool! My brothers had a white knight dryer for 4years. Never been a problem he had to press the reset at the back once because it overheated. That was about it!

White Knight

Back in 1990, White Knight driers seemed to be mostly available through the, now deceased, "Clydesdale" electrical store chain. This was similar in principal to Currys, when they had actual high street stores.

The compact drier was often given as a free gift if a certain washer was purchased, for instance over the Easter Weekend sales promotion, etc.

I always thought they looked rather cheap machines (plastic portholes, instead of glass). To me, they were never in the same league as Hoover or Hotpoint designs.

I gather they have been very reliable driers, with Bosch possibly sourcing machines from Crosslee/White Knight.
