Since the Southeastern, California and New England Applianceville contingents have occasional wash-in parties; I’ve been talking about doing a Northland wash-in party in my basement for Minneapolis-St. Paul and Greater Minnesota Appliancevill’ers for quite some time, so I’ve set a date of Saturday evening, Feb 12th at 8:00pm. We will have lots of clothes washing in the vintage machines (you guys/gals get to choose which ones) and some wine, then we can wash the wine glasses in the see-thru dishwasher of your choice. If you would like to come please email me at unimatic1140@yahoo.com and I can give you more info.

After all we can't let all those New Englanders get ahead of us Northlanders now can we! :)

Hi Les, if you happen to be going to be in MSP that weekend please join us! I don't think it's worth people flying in for a 4 hour party, I just wanted to extend an invitation for people in Applianceville within easy driving distance of the Twin Cities to have an evening get together. I posted this publically because I know there are quite a few members in the area and I don't all their member names.

The real party will be the Convention at Greg's in June, which I'm counting the days to seeing old friends and meeting new friends too!

I know I'm looking forward to it; it will be my first event with this group. I'm also trying to plan for the convention in June. That would be great to finally meet everyone.

Sounds like a nice "reunion" ...

Robert, thanks for the invite but I was just teasing you and moaning because I'm so far away from Minnesota but one day I hope I can come up and see you and your fabulous house & machines. In the meantime I look forward to seeing you and everyone at the convention in June.

Wash In Indiana

I would love to host a wash in! BUT, The only problem would be nothing vintage to wash in! Not yet anyway! We could bake a hell of a lot of cookies and bread though! LOL!

Sounds Fun!

What a great time you all will have!
It is so cool to be around nice people, with similar interest. That love to talk, and can't shut up. Feel worn out by the end of the day from talking too much about childhood memories and such. It will be a blast!
Take Pictures!

How about a web cam for the washers! Water and suds proof of course.

I just returned from this truly delightful event. Special thanks to Robert for hosting and sharing his wonderful collection, and to everyone who came and made it a wonderful night! It was great meeting new people and seeing old friends too!

I am going to post a bar recipe over on the Super forum, that a number of people liked and asked about. I think I made these last year for a gathering Greg had as well. They are very simple to make and always a hit.

It was so good to see everyone who was there. AND PARTICULARLY MSJETCONE I thought she had abandoned us. Looks as lovely as she did during the Minnie convention. Robert, I still am adjusting to the new basement. I still mentally see machines arranged in the old basement even though I'm looking at their new home LOL.

I rang the bell before seeing a sign Robert had left saying to come to the basement and join the fun. Imagine my delighted surprise when PeterH came to the door! How wonderful it was to see him and Jamie again after nearly 3 years. It was fun that I got to meet Gyrafoam Steve and some other new friends too!

Wow, what a great time last night and what a great group of people. I feel a bit hungover today yet I didn't have anything to drink at Robert's...maybe it's from sniffing the Salvo tablets?!

I want to publicly thank Robert (and his lovely hostess Gladys) for opening his heart and home to us all. He is a man of generous and playful spirit.

I couldn't believe how fast the time went. We arrived at 8:00 and the next time I checked my watch it was after midnight! Then the next time it was 2:10 a.m! I think we were mesmorized by 1-18 for the last hour. And yes, I do feel bad about the mess, I would have helped clean up, really!!!

Q: My favorite machine? A: Whichever one I was standing in front of at that moment!

Q: Favorite moment? A: Hard to say, but one of them was when the James dishwasher started with a bang and freaked everyone out!

Hey Robert did the group picture turn out okay? Could you post it with everyone's names? I know we'd be missing Don since he arrived later, but I'd like to have a copy of the pic.

Jim

Robert ... THAT WAS INCREDIBLE!! I'm sorry I left so soon! You guys went another 3.5 hours after I left ... GEEZ!!

I felt completely comfortable being there and meeting everyone, including you, for the first time.

I couldn't believe all of those wonderful machines! The vintage Dash and Tide were a lot of fun and it was great taking "hits" off of the vintage Downy, Final Touch and Salvo!!

Everyone was so friendly ... it was truly a pleasure and you are an EXCELLENT host!!

Thanks again ...

Geoff

WOW!

What a great time! I flew in on Wednesday and hopped into a whirlwind! The "wash-in" at Robert's was just wonderful. It was great to meet so many people from the "club". Robert and Glady's were most gracious hosts and it was really nice to put faces to names. Don, Jim, Karen, Jamie, Scott, John, Chris, PeterH, Gary, John, oh, it was wonderful! We opened by cranking up that "fourties" GE. Robert took the lid off and let it splash away. I just loved playing with the '55 "Pulse-a-Matic" and the memories the Kelvinator and Hotpoint brought back. The Philco's ALL got a work out and the "Uni-matics" as well. I just can't thank Robert enough for such a wonderful evening! I was also fortunate enough to be a guest of Gary Weibel, who took me into his home and "ran me ragged" around the Twin-Cities. We went to shows and the theatre and many different restaurants. I got a chance to see his collection of machines as well. I got to meet a few of his wonderful friends as well as his Mother who is much fun! We went and scooped up Robert one evening and went to visit John Eichinger and Chris Phillips. They welcomed us into their beautiful home and showed us the Philco-Bendix collection. IT IS AWESOME!!!!! When John restores a machine it looks like "new out of the box" when he is done---amazing. We had a great time and washed some laundry in the '58 Bendix, the Lady Kenmore Combo, and played with a (Italian) Bendix from the early 2000's. IT was so much fun and so are John and Chris! Many thanks to all, and yes I will take the film to get it developed tomorrow, and send copies to Robert to scan. --Steve (Gyrafoam)

Looks like everyone had fun.

All it takes is a couple of phone calls among friends. Golittlesport demo'd his Frigidaire for Filter Flo and I last week at his place. We had a great time.

I am still fuming that I was unable to attend the wash-in, even though I'm a mere 2-1/2 hours from Uni's house. It looked like everyone had a blast. I'd sure love to have seen the Kelvinator/ABC's in their supercalasplashariffic glory. And ye olde Frigidaire's, as well. I had a session booked to record a harpist and she was unable to reschedule. Gee, maybe I should have brought her along. A little harp music, a little laundry....... I'll make the next one, I promise!
