Hi, New member here! Let me tell you a bit about myself. I'm Alan, I'm 18 and I've been loving washing machines virtually all my life. I know everything about them and I thought I'd like to introduce myself with this good question:

What's your favourite washing machine and why?

Well, I'll tell you mine to get the programme started.

My current favourite is the one I have now. My 2006 Miele Plantinum 6 Washing Machine. It's the same as the W3622 WPS but this model is sold exclusively through John Lewis stores.
Why do I like it? Well, Because it looks classy, solidly built, well designed, reliable and it has loads of programmes and features.

Here's a picture for all to see!

That's mine. What's yours?

Ey-up - I have the updated version of your washer, and a 2005 model, W2652WPS, too but that's in storage at the mo.

The Miele's have to be the best washers I've used so far! :-)

Welcome to the club!

Jon

PS - this picture was what I painted for my art exam on Monday :-); the subject title was Folds and I thought why not do it laundry themed :-P

Hi! Again,it has to be a Miele! I have a 6 year old w363 which is a great washer, although not the same quality as the w919 it replaced.I only realised this a little while ago when i saw the older machine in action-very classy!!

Hi Alan,
Mine is my current washer a Haier 6kg twintub and my reasons, firstly simplicity in use and controls,no fuzzy logic nonsense for me speed in doing the wash and thirdly it is sooooo much fun being in total control of the wash and being interactive with my machine.
Apologies I cannot post pictures, no scanner.
Cheers.
Steve.

My first!

This is VERY similar to the first washing machine we had I grew up with! A 1981 Sangiorgio FL...i was born later in the 1983!
Mine is the Tesi 825 model, while this could be the 827 one.

my favourite washer has to be Speed Queen commercial top loaders. Its taken a while to realize but these were the only ones that have been able to wash my clothes clean while being gentle and get my whites white. They can handle big loads easily and are good at rinsing with a long powerful spray rinse. The dryers are also fast as well. Their front loader version is also very good.
Second in line would come my beloved Whirlpool front loader washer that i had to let go a while ago, it was a good washer but the cycle times were a bit long, rinsing was great with very vintage water levels.

Looks like another Miele!

Had mine two months now. It's not perfect but it knocks spots off some of the BSH (Siemens) competitors of similar price.

Rollermatics, specially in turquoise

I guess it's the love/hate thing...but no washer has ever made quite the same sound or provided nearly as much drama as these did. But my mom's 1959 control tower tops come awful close. Just, they never broke (considering those belts, thank goodness) I could watch that pulsator go up and down for hours... and did. But they did not quite make the same "thunk" when they dropped that pulsator and went into spin as my rollermatics did. It was such a feeling of power, endless reserves...no need to hurry here, no need to neutral drain(no way, anyway).

Thank you for all your replies and making me feel welcome on the forum. You've all got a wonderful collection of machines!
It's great to see a few Miele owners out there, I especially love the Honeycomb Drum in the current models!

My Fav machine

Welcome Alan, well my favorite machine is still my Hoover Vision at the moment followed closely by the Old Indesit 2103 from the 80's which provided me with years of entertainment.

Fav Machine

Mine was the Westinghouse potato pulley front loaders. Besides being fun to wash, I always thought the Westinghouse control panels, dials, buttons etc were away ahead of their time design wise. I love the pic of the day ad seen on here with Pearl Bailey advertising them for White-Westinghouse just after White Cons. bought the line. "We build em like we used to!" (Well we all know that didn't last very long).

my favourite one?

Well...not so easy to say.....! My favourite one/ones are definitely: TWIN-TUBS !
I totally agree with Steve from Sydney (twinniefan) when he postulates the fun and versatility of these machines!
My most beloved type of machine/brand is:
HOTPOINT SUPERMATIC DE LUXE T9414
This machine has nearly everything a "washer" wishes a machine to have: good capacity (3kg), easy to control switches, filter-flow, spiral agitator, half-load option, super fast spinner, auto-rinse feature, spinner with clutch mechanism for smooth running, easy to move around, well built for a good price!
But I have some other beloved ones, too....... (One is never enough for me to give me full satisfaction...lol)
I like these HOOVERMATICs either! None faster ever!
And this cute HOTPOINT ELECTRONIC DE LUXE 1050 TopLoadAutomatic which has ALL the features of a really good American TL but has a heater element for extra temperature power plus a fast spin of 1050 rpm!
And then this excellent SPEED QUEEN Commercial TL Automatic I've got......woohoo!!!! I have to agree totally with MattyWashBoy concerning American Automatic Washers!

It isn´t my favourite washer, but the best I ever had.I firstly had 2because I´m only 15 years old.
It washs very clean, but the quality isn´t good at all.It needs new shock absorbers and may be a new wash basket..

Hi Alan!!!

I sent you the pictures of my washers and some video links of them posted in youtube. I hope you've looked at them. I prefer to send them to your mail since my pictures are too big and takes a lot of posts here if I want to show them.

I just acquired a Miele W1986 and so far it wins #1 place for now. I love how flexible this machine is and with programmable options to change almost any parameter, how could I go wrong?

until I just got my new Miele! I never thought I would be taken over by "Miele fever" but I have been! I still am a big fan of AEG though and I will keep my 74620 and in honor of it I will post it in this message.

Post# 214203 , Reply# 24   6/4/2007 at 06:07 (6,170 days old) by lavamat78800 ()

My parents had the AEG-fever and I think they´re having it anymore. We have all of AEG, terrible!
I like Miele washers more, so the next washer will be a Miele, and I´ll have the next washer soon, also when my AEG Lavamat is only 2 years old.
Has your Miele the special drum?

No, it does not have the new honeycomb® drum, it has the regular old fashioned type with the 4000 holes.
