Hi everyone,

My new garage, game room, washing machine room is done so had the grand opening on 2/5. Filter Flo and Golittlesport were there, along with some non-members who are in other appliance clubs (vacuums) and car club folk.

The pictures show using the now working 67 LK, which Jimmy was kind enough to teach me how to repair (the correct water valve is on the way, which we discovered was replaced with the wrong type once we got the machine's mechanicals running again). The highlight was when Jimmy demo'd how to use the scrubber on the LK agitator on some underwear.

Just wanted to share the fun we had and the collection of stuff I have gathered over the years.

Wow Mike, super cool pictures, thanks for posting these. I love the double decker vintage cars! We're going to have to start doing this with washers soon. Very fun stucco house you have, I love stucco exterior houses, and your Western Holly is beautiful!

Beautiful collection of things, Mike! The jukes are really interesting, as many different styles as appliances.

Wow!

Thanks for sharing those pictures.

That Ford Wagon, is it a 1967 Country Squire? Does it have that terrible little facing 3rd seat?

Hey Mike!
Does that GE console have the little vacuum cleaner in the tone arm?

Thanks for the very kind words!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the kind words. This garage project has been a dream for a long time and now it is real.

To answer the questions posted:

1. Yes, it is a 1967 Country Squire and it does have the rear jump seats ala 10 passenger (6 adults, 4 kids crammed back there).

2. There is no vacuum device in my console record player tone arms. They are all from the mid-60s era.

3. Scott, yes, that is the Flair I picked up when you were at Mark and Daniel's storage unit. It is hooked up to power and I used it to cook some of the food at the party. It works fine. Just needs some real good cleaning.

Thanks again for the posts.

Loved your collection. My dad had a 1967 fairlane squire in white.

I love this site and wish I could get to meet a lot of you guys. Are any of you in PA, especially the Lehigh Valley area.

About the juke boxes I have always wanted one. A vp at worked had bought one restored but he has the money to do that. How and where would I go to get one that I could rstore myself at my leisure. I have lots of 45's stored safely away that my wife and I collected as teenagers and get them out and play occasionaly. But i would love to have a juskebox to setup and play them. Thanks for any information you could give me. You can email me at this address mikerun@ptd.net

Thanks
MikeO

Hi Mike, What a fantastic collection you have! And what a fun laundry/game room. I bet all that took some real planning on your part. It has turned out just great! Love the vintage 1960's cars too! Thats when cars were built like trucks. Heavy frame and all.
I have a 1964 Filter-Flo also. I got it from Jimmy. It works great! I have never seen the inside of a newer Filter-Flo,and see that you have a 1994 model. Sometime could you post a picture or two of the tub, etc. of that machine for us? What year did they stop making the Filter-Flow anyway? I figured it was in the 1980's.
Attached is a picture of my Filter-Flo.

Thanks Mike,
Rick

WOW!!!!

Congratulations Mike, thanks for sharing!!! Beautiful home, cool laundry/game/music room, and the Wedgewood Holly range is absolutely STUNNING! Great to see the LK washing again; I bet the scrubber cap would work wonders with Spray & Wash or even Tide liquid!

IIRC, the exterior of the last Filter-Flos received a small facelift before the (OY...) "plastic era", but the interior was virtually the same as the previous machines from the 1980's and early 1990's, with the speckled tub and white "clothes guard." And again, IIRC, in 1994-95, GE discontinued the Filter-Flo completely and made washers with the 2-piece "handwash" agitator system for a short time; this was basically a Hotpoint in a GE-labeled machine. These were equipped with self-cleaning filter rings, and because of that large agitator, capacity was not the best. I've only seen a handful of this design but they're still out there...might be collectible someday. Although I'd rather have a Filter-Flo instead, IMHO.

Mike, what do the interior and agitator of your '94 look like? The Activator styling seemed to undergo a subtle change over the years, as far as the ridges on the filter mount, agitator cap, and "lines" on the ramps/base were concerned.

Mike-thanks for sharing! Your collection of everything is just great! I really like your washroom and gameroom. And your workshop. Well, I could go on and on, but to sum it up I liked everything you showed us. Thanks again, David

Wash-in

Darn, I missed it? I was just sitting around home on the 5th bored to tears, would've loved to have been there, did I miss a notice posted somewhere?

Mike, all I can say is wow. What a great diverse collection you have. I like the flair range (have one myself) but I must say the Holly is just fantastic. I saw a picture of a GE Americana fridge in 60's kitchen book and thought that was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. I never imagined there would still be one around. In my opinion the late 50's and the 60's were pretty inovative and unique when it came to appliance design (my 2 cents). THanks for sharing.

Oh you guys must have had great fun. The GE and Kenmore machines a great looking and fun to play with. Did I see a '66 Toronado and a '67 Eldorado? What is under wraps above the Eldorado? Love those "wash-ins" never know who you will see or what you will find! -Steve

Fire hazard

RickR, tell me I'm not seeing the "verboten" white vinyl dryer ducting that everybddy warns against these days in that pic of the Filter-Flo?

New game room

Well, Mike, since you have the Flair range in there to make goodies on, now you need a vintage portable dishwasher so you don't have to schlep dirty dishes back to the main house to put in the dishwasher there! :-) I vote for a Kenmore front loader with Roto Rack and a Butcher Block top. Those clean as well as a modern machine.

I'm BUSTED by the dryer hose police!! LOL

rickr's profile picture
Well.... I changed that hose to a metal one last Saturday. However the plastic one had been in use since the 1980's. ):
One of those things I kept putting off. Guess I got lucky,no fires.

Thanks again!!

Happy Tuesday all,

Thanks again for all the kind words. I will take some pix of the 94 Filter Flo, last of its kind, in a few days.

I did the laundry last night, always fun to have all the machines going at once.

multiple washers draining

So did it turn out that your drain line could handle multiple machines draining at once? I remember you were worried that it would be an issue.
