It all started with a look at the forbidden cycle on Glenn’s F&P DishDrawer.
Left to right: The guest of honor from California, Scott (scott55405), the famous “Bob Load” Bob (appnut) and our handsome host Glenn (dadoes).

You can’t have a Wash-in without a “Bob Load”

washoholic's profile picture
Soooo, Bob himself loaded the F&P to the max with towels.

The load began to settle as the F&P spun at 10 R.P.M. & filled, so Bob threw in the GIANT launder bag that once held the towels.

After the “Fabric Sensing” was complete, the F&P determined that the “Bob Load” of towels would receive a “Firm Wash.”

Glenn, is the F&P a "neutral-drain" machine? Also, I like how it fills all the way to the top for that Bob-load---is that typical for a high water level setting or did you give it some "help"?

letting Bob insert a Bobload® into your F&P! Its a testament to their engineering. I always knew Bob needed a Firm Hand!!

Wow that Coppertone 906 is really nice. Looks like a fun event and RJ's theater with dog is too cool. I don't know if I could watch "Letters From Iwo Jima" on that big screen, too depressing! But I sure could watch "Star Wars"!!

Steve, yes it's a neutral drain. And yes, that's the typical max fill, no "enhancing" needed.

Dan, that's not Glenn's dog, RJ's. Name is Ruppert.

I wonder if a certain someone is man enough to give me a firm hand. Make no beans about it Mr.!!

It should be noted, that load of towels couldn't hold a candle to some of the loads I embarked with December, 2006, with the F&P. All of it's auto sensing was WAYYYY challenged then, I think it even got confused somewhat. Glenn reported it did things he'd never seen before.

Thanks to Jeff posting these pics!

It was a *tiny* gathering, quickly arranged. I much enjoyed having the guests. There are always a few activities planned to be done that don't happen when the washing gets going .... hahaha.

The DishDrawer is interesting to see, but gets boring quickly. Once you've seen it spray .... that's about all it does! I have different spray arms in the upper & lower drawers (thanks Leslie!), it'd be more interesting to run them without dishes to compare the spray pattern.

Several machines aren't pictured, which they shouldn't be in their icky condition! We didn't swap hoses to run the A906, although the DE906 ran several times.

Bob said he hadn't before watched an entire Calypso cycle run through, and agreed it's quirky and fun. I've been using it frequently, eight loads in the past week (not including the Saturday fun). It works nicely for items that don't take well to traditional agitation, such as bedspreads and comforters, throw-rugs, and pillows.

In regards to the BobLoad® of towels, that's not the maximum it can hold. Two more full-size bath towels would have fit easily, possibly three. "Firm" wash is two or three steps below the maximum agitation profile. I think it goes either Firm -> Strong -> Active -> Maximum, or Strong -> Firm -> Active -> Maximum. F&P toploaders are neutral drain, they can't be anything else due to the mechanics of the design. Bob was pleased to observe first-hand that it adjusts the number of spray rinses based on load size. He had seen four sprays on other loads through the day, but there were five on the BobLoad® of towels. Being that, for normal cycle selection, the machine adjusts water level & wash action & even wash time via fuzzy-logic, each load is unique. We also figured out that on the Allergy cycle (and Diaper Rinse, among possibly others) it shifts the usual after-wash spin/spray subroutine to occur before the final spin. Allergy does two deep rinses with spins between, then the full post-wash spin/spray routine, pauses to reorient itself as if the rinse drain had just finished, and continues with the final spin.

We saw a black electronic LK pair at a flea market, but didn't stop for closer examination. I would have wanted them, and I have no room.

Rupert much enjoyed Scott's feet, and I'm not saying anything about the cowgirl!

Best little wash-in in Texas?

The first wash-in so close to home and I missed it! Anyway, looks like y'all had a good time. Certainly for any F&P fans! Their machines are so unique. Just what IS the 'forbidden' cycle? The fact that the drawer was open?

Great collection, Glenn.

the W0-65 is the very one my mother held me up to see--the famous double rinsing frigidaire, before the overflow evolved. How in God's name have you kept the porcelain tub looking brand new?

Have enjoyed Glen's gorgeous Calypso flix, and understand its magic, but I'm ignorant of the newly heralded Fisher P. How does it agitate? There are rumors that its speeds are infinite and its strokes, variable. Is any of this true?

I would have been very comfortable there with you guys, and wish Texas was next door. I remember when i first joined the club and was so surprised at how wonderful and welcoming all the Texans were. Thank You so much for this very satisfying treat.

We had a most wonderful visit and special thanks to my hosts Bob and Glenn, and I was so glad Jeff could join us from Austin, whom I had met and so enjoyed in Tucson. I've intended to visit Texas for some time, and after an email conversation with Glenn decided no time like the present!

I flew into Austin arriving late Thursday night, then drove to Temple Friday morning. I spent the day and evening with Bob, and together we drove to El Campo, where we Jeff met us. I enjoyed wonderful food and accomodation in both places and the company of good friends, who could ask for more.

Glenn has a burgeoning collection and a wonderful venue for it, and I really enjoyed the F&P pair and Dish Drawers, none of which I'd ever seen hooked up and operating before. I would purchase an F&P pair for a new set without hesitation after enjoying learning more about it at Glenn's. The toploading dryer is very cool, and who can't love a toploader that spins at 1010 RPM (with occasional gusts to 1011!)

Rural Texas is of course a much different world than that which I'm accustomed, but it was very nice and particularly the drive from Temple to El Campo is quite scenic. Robert, I think you would have felt right at home, especially on Friday it felt just like a Minnesota summer day! LOL Our weather was actually quite pleasant.

I will be looking forward to future visits!
