Nice one Seamus, Oh to find one of those again, much prefer the 7147 square doors though, I`ve got the 45` demo record that came with this machine, AND, narrated by our very own Valerie Singleton of Blue Peter fame...lol These where seriously good machines, very robust and that motor was a massive induction motor, but whisper quiet, you heard the air whoosing around the drum more than the motor on spin!! Thanks for searching it out, Mike |

Same PHILCO almost as my Nana had! alhough Nanas had Door Catch Handle instead of door release button. When I saw this advert I remembered something that i think deserves another thread but heres a link..... We all knew Major Toms a junkie but what machine did his wife wash his shirts in? (reference to shirts in Space Oddysey) Pause it at 1 minute 58 and one will not see this Bendix like I thought it was but an Indesit L7.....?? hehe Rob CLICK HERE TO GO TO aquarius1984's LINK |

Hey Jon Yup both are still about, although ive not had either for years lol! Notice in this ad and the 81 Bendix one I posted Mrs Housewife is putting SERIOUS ammounts of Persil in that drawer- and prewashing! Wonder if she got a sudslock lol! Seamus P.S I get the impression they removed the pressure switch for the door shot with the duck lol! |

Ahh old bendix machines were so great! My grandparents had them since i could remember! I always remember the rinse levels being quite heafty! On washdays my grandma would let me do, i'd select the option on the left dial which was programmes 1-9 then the dial on the right was the mechanical timer, which she helped me turn, then i'd press the on button on and underneath it was a mock button which was just a big on light! Very nice indeed. I do miss seeing that bendix! Briliant machines! Would be nice to see one again someday. Darren |
