While the control panel is in great shape, but I think we might have a little problem down here...uh-oh.

I just now noticed that these people want $150 for the set regardless of what problems the 1-18 will probably develop in the near future. Those cheapskates...

I saw a 1-18 paired with a '95 GE dryer in Dallas in December. It was a near-BOL model but in much better shape than this one (and also much less...$50). I sent numerous emails to the seller and she didn't respond.

Don't let a little rust disuade you from this washer, it might not be from the washer at all, perhaps it began it's life in a garage or laundry porch, somewhere that wasn't climate controlled - it looks like it's indoors now and I'm sure if it were leaking water of any quantity it would have been cast to the curb long ago. The price isn't that out of line for both, yeah, the washer is 'old' in used appliance terms, but that is a fine dryer that you could easily sell for $75-100+ making the washer around the same price as the one you saw before. I say go for it - good luck!

If they sell the dryer (which they probably will) and they're offering the washer for a low price (or free) because a lay person will think it's "junk", then I'll jump on it.

Also, these people seem "gross", IMHO. Just look at the other stuff they're offering...especially the inside of the refrigerator!!! EWWWW

I see many more ads for dryers than washers, so if I get it now I might be "stuck" with the dryer, not to mention getting WAY ripped off...

Austin its ok not to want to spend $150 but a 1-18 for $150 seems like a great bargin to me. When was the last time you saw a 1-18 in Texas for sale? You can always throw the dryer away, that's what I would do if I really wanted the washer.

Austin,

You need to go after this one if a 1-18 is what you want. I have looked far and wide for a 1-18 to add to my collection and just recently stumbled across one. Mine is just like the one that popped up for you, only coppertone.

$150 is not much to pay for the set, since as others have stated, you can always sell the dryer and get half or more of your money back.

I have learned through experience, especially from buying at flea markets and all types of sales, that if you find something that you really and truly want, and the price is reasonable, you better go snatch it up quick. If you pass it up, and later change your mind, it may be no longer be there when you go back after it.

Go for it!!!!

Dennis

Austin don't be afraid of a little rust on the cabinet. It might just be surface rust on the front panel. The panel comes off with three or four screws at the bottom, and you could just pop it off and sand and paint it. White hides many sins anyway. You could make it look great in one weekend, even if you have to paint the whole lower cabinet. The control panel looks very clean and original,so thats a real plus. I mean you have to remember this machine is 30+ years old.
Dallas isn't exactly a hop and a skip away from where you live, but at least it is in your state. (: (and you can tell your mom that Spring break is JUST around the corner and you'll need something to do anyway.....)

Grab it

I agree, even if you only get $25-$50 for the dryer, it'd be worth it, those machines aren't getting any more plentiful. Plus, if a better one comes down the road later on, you can always pass this one along to someone else.

No colectionis complete without a Frigidaire of some type.

Austin, I say go for it too if you can get it. Remember the T/L Westinghouse I left in the dumpster we were talking about over the weekend? Besides, your mom would love the trip. Maybe you could get the price lower...
