From the awful Harvest Bleech paint job, looks like this is a 70's Kenmore matching set. Probably middle of line, not sure.

Enjoy.

Rich, yes, that's an early/mid 70's pair. My mom's washer was a more expensive model but had a similar control panel. The green rectangular cycle selections were more of a rust color on my mom's machine. Best machine she ever owned, it lasted 25 years before she made the wrong decision to replace it rather than fix it. With the help of a service guy, I'm sure. I was out of the country at the time or I'm sure she would have consulted with me first.

The $350 price seems very outlandish, but if these are mint or nearly so, that's cheap for a pair of machines that will outlast anything on the market today.

Wow. More and more of these are coming on the market. Rodrigo (Bestcleaning) has a set just like this in his collection. It has a Penta Vane agitator in it. I believe his were also this color.

Have a good one,
James

Penta: Vane or Swirl?

rp2813's profile picture
My mom's machine had the Penta-Swirl agitator. I think that was part of the whole "Quiet-Pak" feature of her machine. With the laundry area off the family/TV room with only swinging saloon doors separating it, noise was a factor and Sears really delivered on the whole quiet thing. Have never heard a quieter TL machine before or since.

I don't know how Sears made their decisions about agitators. Out there in the thrift stores etc, you don't see as many Penta-Swirls as Penta-Vanes and it seems the Kenmores from this period tend to have a lot of AW members scratching their heads over age and model range.
