Hey Fellas,

I went to an estate sale today and found this beauty. I though someone might be interested. The relatives are selling the house and the machines are written in the contract. However, the relatives are thinking that they will be getting rid of said washer (because they are redoing the house). The relatives took my name and number and promised to bring it to closing, so if the new owners wanted to sell it, they could call me. I forgot to take a 'money shot'(I'm so sorry!) but the tub is is in good shape, I didn't see any rust.

My question is, would anyone be interested in this machine? If so, when the people call me, I'll send them your way, or I can play middle man.

I personally am saving for a 1958-1966 Maytag center dial and don't care for the machine, but I knew someone on here would want to save this windowed beauty.

No picture of the dryer, it was new and didn't match the washer.

This was a model that KMart sold a gazillion of for $329.99

Really? I didn't realize the glass top lid was that common.

I haven't seen one in my folks' neck of the woods in the last 20 years, I personally am thankful for every hint, hoot, holler and shout-out. GM also made several million of my little Malibu, but when I need a trim part, you'd think Sandy was a one-off special, hand made and the molds shattered five minutes after the first and last plastic casting...
If I were, oh, say, 5,000 miles closer, I'd want her. Good luck on your Maytag searchs - you'll find one. Probably still merrily sloshing away with nary a repair.

How many vintage Maytag center dial washers do you want? If you've got a truck, c'mon up and take 'em home.

Rich

How much do you think they want for it? I'm in the DC area. Is that far away from me?

Jon, probably about a 3-4 hour drive, depending on traffic, from Alexandria. I used to go to Fredericksburg often and that is 2-2.5 hour drive (so you could be a better judge of distance than me). Always nice to meet a fellow Virginian! I'll let you know about the price when the new owners contact me.

Rich, Just a washer/dryer set, either white, blue, or yellow (I have not embraced my inner pink, sorry fellas). No truck here, but I may take you up on it sometime this summer. I'm a teacher and if I can scrape together the cash, I'll rent a truck and drive up. Thanks so much!

Thanks

I'll keep checking back on it. I'm doubtful that I'll pick it up at any rate but, who knows? If they are practically giving it away then I may have to consider it.

Thanks again!

cool, I just hate to have it be destroyed... The dump is an unfortunate end for such a cool looking machine. If anyone else is interested just let me know.
