Though not a top of the line model, this is a medium to upper model, in that it has the "compensated" control, porcelain top, interior light, dial light, and air freshener...... |

Interior light still works, and this is an early model that has the plastic lens on it........ |

Earlier version of the GE door grill/baffle. I believe this to be about a 1959/1960 model and GE still used the small grill for the air flow thru the door......... |

All of the motor wiring diagram is present, along with instructions for 110 or 220V operation. The compensated control must be readjusted for the different voltages..... |

Data Plate......... This dryer runs very nicely, but no heat! So my next step is to do at least a partial disassembly and find out what the heating problem is....... |

...but I will never, never, NEVER, understand GE. This must be a special builders' model, a variation of the DA 920R which came with the control panel on pedestals. This model looks absolutely identical in features and controls to that one, save for the pedestals. Why in the world, back in 1958, did they feel the need to produce two versions of their TOL dryer???

That's a neat GE dryer you found, I admire the classic styling of GE laundry equipment in that time period. Innovated to say the least, and good quality equipment and designed well. But Jimmy do I spot a Signal box fan in the garage next to the Buick? My grandparents had that same fan as I remember it well, we got it back when they moved to FLA. I remember it wouldn't fit in a window as it was a large fan. My mom gave the fan to a friend of her's which I didn't know she did. I only realized it a few years later when the fan was missing and I inquired about it. That was a great fan and quiet on low speed too. Good Luck with the dryer, as I am sure you will nail down the problem and get it fixed. Doug |

What a neat find. I think it's amazing that out of the 10,000's of machines that pass through the recycler's hands per month and all the times we've been to the appliance graveyard, we've never found a vintage GE washer OR dryer in ANY condition. I do hope that this is a close match for you to your washer. Rich |
