Hey guys - this shouldn't be too hard - but I'm looking to replace the fluorescent lamp in a recent A806 find. I see this is avail all over the place through the repair parts sites, but is there a size that would work from a local hardware store?

Once I get the lamp taken care of and clean it up a bit, I'll post an "expressive" pict that will depict my personal view of our beloved Maytag. Thanks!

Ben

I got one for my 806 at Lowes, local hardware store or electrical supply would be the next places I would check.

Take the old one with you....sometimes they are an odd size! You might want to replace the starter as well.

The hard part is I don't have one in the recent pickup. I guess I could grab one out of the other 806, but then I'd need to go and fuss with that one, and I want to leave it alone, as it still works. Approx how long is it - and are there two pins on each side, or is it just one? Thanks for you guy's help!

Ben

Swestoyz, When my console light on my A806 finally burnt out last year, after 34 years, I found one at Lowes. Its a GE Cool White 18 inch 15 watt standard Fluorescent lamp. Make sure you get the Cool White otherwise you will see a color difference. The original lamp (yes I save EVERYTHING) is a Westinghouse F15t8/CW. The dryer is a 20 watt 24 inch cool white. These are still readily available at most hardware/home improvement centers. Good Luck and post some PICS when you can. Erik
