Just out of curiosity, does anyone here own and use coin-op machines in their home? What type are they (hint: picture)? Do you use the coin box to trigger it or something rigged up? Is it the daily driver?

I no longer have to use (someone else's) coin-op washers, but I've always wanted a pay phone and a Coke machine. I own a jukebox. I've thought the idea of commercial coin-op machines in the home is fascinating.

When I was growing up I stayed at a friends during the summer and they had a coin-op GE washer that they used. It only cost a quarter per load, and they used the same quarter over and over. The coin box was removed so after a load was started they would take the quarter and either put it back in to the slot or put it in the filter. I thought it was cool that they had a coin-op machine in there house.

Once upon a time-

you could get coin-op Kenmores at almost every Sears store...they were intended for small landlords and the like.

yep sure have... The Wascomat W73 I have has a coin changer and I took the tumblers out so that I could start the machine with out putting money in it. Both my Primus machines came with integrated coin mechs and very low water levels. On this machine I took out the coin mech and rigged up a switch to start the machine and a timer advance switch. I changed the dip switches on the coin mech board to allow only one coin and raised the water level, now the machine actually cleans the clothes rather than just getting them wet. On the P-12 machine, I just used a Cherry switch, because the configuration was not complicated unlike the Primus machine.

Has Coin-op machines. I don't remember the brand, but I know they aren't SQ.

The Laundry supply place in town sells to individuals, I expect for rentals and the such; but they aren't cheap.

I have a coin-op Alliance toploader, bought it brand spankin new a couple months ago! I love it!! I just had the factory set the coin-slide to free. They can change the price by putting little inserts in the slots to fill them up, I just had them fill all the slots, so, I just have to push the coin-slide in to start it!

My grandmother had a pair of mid 70's coin op GE filter flos, one in harvest and the other avacado, they are still there with matching coin op dryers, they need some work and are unused now, so her tenants have to go to to the laundrymat.
For grandma wash day was easy because she would use the coin op machines and her own filter flo so the wash was done in a fraction of the time
