I have the go ahead to order some new energy star/water saving comercial washers for the coin laundry here. The companies we have that distribute them can get either Staber or Speed Queen commercial units. The prices are close so, that's not the issue. My personal main issues are the dependability and strength these have for those wonderful customers we have here.they have already caused issues up to transmission failier from abuse and overloading them.Mind you, they were bought used but were in mint condition two years ago when we bought them.We currently ave a new comercial Staber on hold but there is no commitment on that particular one.

If overloading is an issue, I would probably suggest the Staber machines. Reason being that being a TLHA washer, there is no stationary window or rubber boot for items to get stuck, twisted and/or damaged on. The clothes would come into contact with nothing stationary while they are being washed. Might also help the machine to not have to struggle to rotate a load that is in contact with quite some force against a stationary window. I can't speak for the reliability of the Staber machines, cuz I have never used one even, but they are seemingly easy to work on...

One simply cannot compare Staber and Speed Queen.

Alliance Laundry has been around for ages with a solid history. Try getting parts much less a repair person for a Staber unit. See what also happens when a Staber unit breaks down and or malfunctions. Remember in commercial laundry situations you need every machine to be up and running in good order, otherwise you have something that is costing you money but isn't bringing in revenue.

Are you getting the SQ Horizon washers (home-size with coin slide) or real commercial bolt down machines? Either way, SQ hands down. You will get much better support from Alliance.

I,myself have worked on both the staber and Speed Queen(top loader)and yes, staber has absolutely no nationwide service. In fact, they have no authorised repair companies at all. They expect all the owners of their products to be able ( through their own trouble shooting/over the phone service tech. of whom there is only one.)to call them and repair and order the replacement parts themselves. There compay's customer service is on the east coast in the mainland and that's 7 hours away from here. They close at 5PM EDT and if I don't call before 11AM our time, they're already closed. That sucks because it took me over 6 hours to repair the last one because of the abusive users who used powdered detergent (not the HE type)and caused major sudslock which caused a short and made the mother board take a shit.I had to replace the mother board, the presure switch, ballance switch and readjust the sump hose because the water was backwashing into the outer tub.
The Speed Queen needs a new transmission and a plastic pully of some sourt feel right out a few weeks before the trans went.I wasn't her at the time and somebody else here just replaced the belt assuming that was the problem. That only made things worse. These people are constantly packing these and causing them to fail.we are the cheapest laundry here($2/wash---$2dry) everywhere else it's $4 and $4.

I like the SQ and will more than likely purchase them.

What infamous ocean liner disaster influenced laundromat washing machine design?

Yes, this does have bearing on this topic. Roll with it. *LOL*

Staber VS Speed Queen

Speed Queen hands down.

Have had Nightmare Stabers and they were the worst machines I have had in 40+ years. they both lasted less than 15 mo.
Tec service is a lady with a manuel reading to you. Machines will not wash more than 15 lbs no matter what they say. Have not a clue as to why or how they are still in business. Know of 2 others here in FtWorth that tried them too, same outcome.

Speed Queen / Alliance has built commerical machines for years and has service anywhere. Also matains parts for many of the older machines as well. Tec service is excellent

Remember Staber is also in the coin op overhaul business. That must keep them in business. They also sell these washers to the Navy, right?

I have to say that Speed Queen Rocks!! All that SS makes a nice looking machine. The stabers just look weird and cheap, I haven't tried them but they look very fishy.
