Well friends, it's all finally finished. I have collected everything that I ever set out to. Once, again I could not have done this without the help of so many great people who are a part of this website. My sincere thanks.
Here are the pictures...

Now for a question

joelippard's profile picture
For anyone who knows more about the Philco that I do is this machine operating on a timed, or siphon fill? I got a little confused on filling it for the first wash, not sure if I need to adjust the water pressure. If anyone knows please inform me.

Wow Joe!! Congratulations. But I hate to tell ya, one never really "completes" their collection. Some day I'll make it to NC. Have a friend of mine who lives in Boone and I'll make sure we come visit.

OMG what a wonderful find Joe! Congratulations, the Philco is simple amazing. I believe its a 1961 model and the first year they went to a true perforated tub.

I think that machine used a blue top filter/dispenser assembly and I think I might have one in the basement. I'll look tomorrow and let you know. If I do it's yours.

The Filtrator is fabulous too. We don't use ours during the summer, but by October its so fun to fill the house with the wonderful smell of filtrator dryed clothes.

I have that Philco with the same chip out of the console! Congrats! Is that new rubber in there? Mine is completely disintegrated.

to all for your kind compliments. I've been working hard this week to get all these machines ready for use. There are a few minor details to work out here and there but that's miniscule.

Seriously guys, I have to be done collecting. There is no more room for installing machines, and I'll not have a cluttered basement.

Robert's right about it being a '61 and he's sending me a filter -- YAY!

PeterH770, all the rubber is original. I'm keeping glycerin on the rubber when I'm not using the machine as to help preserve it. I'll bet if you could locate a fabricator and were will to pay, they can make you a new flapper.

Philco

That machine had set on the floor of an old store for at least 30 years or more, its amazing the rubber was as good as it is,the other Philco I found there was beautiful, but the rubber was dry rotted, it was older, similar to the one Robert has,but with a timer that had a rolling scroll like dial, very fancy, im so glad you got this one Joe,and the Filtrator too,I dont know who got the other one,a friend sold it for me on e.bay...hope I find some more of these treasures.

How does the Filtrator work? Does one dump the water from that matrix of tubes/heat exchanger? Just curious...I've seen condenser driers in Europe and notice the separate heat exchanger and water container.

Post# 368863 , Reply# 38   8/1/2009 at 10:40 (5,381 days old) by joelippard (Hickory)
How does it work?

joelippard's profile picture
The Filtrator heats with calrod's in the upper left portion of the dryer, this in turn heats the dryer tub. A fan driven off the drive motor draws air thru the tub down and across the filtrator tubes, the condensed water in the tubes falls to a collection tray below that is emptied at the end of the days use.
