Bad luck Philip.

Real shame you werent able to get to it in time. I know how much the servis 310 means to you.

Bad luck too to Steve for not being able to acquire it too.

I would have happily absorbed the machine ino mine and Rob's collection, were it not down to the sheer distance involved. Hell of a long way!
Its all manic up here too, plus its like a rubix cube getting things to fit in storage, so space is at a premium - especially as we picked up another washing machine this weekend, as well as two more cleaners.
We should be in a position later in the month to reveal the washer, but over in the other forum.

ta ta for now
Paul

ha lol, just one more question, between you, when you collect washers (you say you are loosing space) do some machines go to your house and some to aquarius 1984's?

Hi Phil.

Unfortunately neither of us are able to house the machines at our respective abodes.
They are kept in storage and brought out of hibernation every now and then.

Ideally they would all be plumbed in and in regular use - but not at the moment, mores the pity.

Paul and Rob

I spy a 9534(?) in the top middle of the first pic, is that a new one? I didn't realise you guys had one of those. :-)

Also the yellow junior in the 2nd pic was my mum's first vac, nice to see it again.

Matt

Hi

Hi I'm Rob,

I thought it was just me with washing machine obsession, but looks like I'm wrong. Paul and Rob's collection of vintage washers is just brilliant, you guys should exhibit them.

The first washing machine I can remember as a child was my mom's Hotpoint 95620 which was brought new in 85/86. I can remember the distinctive sound it made and I loved watching the soap suds running down the glass bowl door during the rinse cycle Hehe

Hey

Yes that's the one. I was quite young when it was new as I remember playing in the cardboard box which the machine was delivered in after!! Lol

Hi Gary and Phil.

Cheers for the complments. Much appreciated. Just a shame that we cant do more with them - the problem that we all have, I think.

Hi Matt
Its a 9520 from January 1987. Driving past the shop, on my way home from work, it was parked outside waiting for the end.
Initially bought it for spares for the 95360, which was to undergo repair and reignition I think the weekend after.
Rather irritatingly, when we plugged it in, it turned out to be fully operational - result was we decided to keep it.

It has cleaned up really well and that missing piece of sidestrip is inside the machine, awaiting reattachment (it was held on through gravity).

We are after a replacement 1987 powder drawer facia for it though, as its current one has been subject to loads of hot washes and appears to have been steamed white!

Paul
p.s picture below is pre the clean up.

Hi Louis

The banana boxes are used to store spares, vac bags and other cleaners which have been disassembled.

Hi Rob.

Welcome to the club and no you definately arent the only one out there. Loads of us, as I found out two years and a bit years ago.

Your mum picked a great machine there, in the 95620.
My parents had a 95452, which i grew up with, and which did a sterling job for nearly twenty years.

Had it lived another year or so, it would still be in existence. It died a couple of years before i would have been in a position to save it. gutted and will regret its passing.

The new generations certainly had a sound to them. Click the link for a vid of the 95620 and click on my username for other vids of the machine, before and after restoration.

cheers
paul

cheers Gary.

it will be a pain in the proverbial to find one. this style, with the electron/elctronic symbol, lasted for the 1986 into 1987 series only before the design on the front was changed (they dropeed the electron/electronic symbol).
The design only appeared on the 9510, 9520, 9530 and 9540.

Fingers crossed.
Paul

Hi Paul

Thanks for the links, your 95620 looks and sounds superb. I had forgotten how load the motor was, you wouldn't put this washer on late at night! Hehe

I also have a soft spot for the 18361 with it's tiny soap draw and silver trim around the controls.

Funnily enough, my mom had the tumble dryer that came with the 18361.

Thanks

Rob

isn't your 9520, basically the 800 rpm version of my hotpoint 9534?
