I have been asked to take a look at a F&P Excellence 709 - I think this model is sold in USA as the GWL09.

This machine has had its main power board replaced by its owner, before I was involved. After the refit when turned on it beeps long and loud, and displays only the spin light (?? _ not 100% certain about the light.)

The owner has been told that after fitting the new power board, a sequence of buttons has to be pushed to "unlock" it. I have never heard this before, but this machine is newer than others I have fixed before so it could be a new "feature."

I am more inclined to think it is an error code, either the new board is the wrong one, or there is a still undiagnosed fault.

Does anyone have a list of fault display codes for this model?
Has anyone heard if a sequence of buttons has to be pushed to initialize the machine after a new power board is fitted?

Thanks,

Chris.

A new board must be programmed for the machine size (diameter of the basket, basically). NZ/Aus F&Ps are sold in three capacity sizes. U.S. models are all the largest size. If the size is not set properly, the following operational parameters will be wrong: auto water level sensing, high water level, water inlet flow rate, agitation profiles, shower rinse volume.

With the power off, press and hold Wash Temp Up, then Power at the same time. Should get 4 short beeps.

Set the size accordingly, then press Power to exit.
• 5kg & 5.5kg = Wash Temp Up / Cold light
• 6.5kg = Water Level Up / Low level light
• 7.5kg = Spin Speed Up / Hold spin light

Spin light lit as a fault code is Code 1: Motor Controller Fault - The Motor Controller has encountered an error when writing to an EEPROM address. Action: Replace the motor controller. Which you say has already been done ... so hopefully she's misreporting the spin light. :-)

I've sent a service manual for Phase 1 thru 5 230v machines to the e-mail addy on your profile. 709 is Phase 5. Far as I'm aware, the U.S. market went from GWL08 to GWL10, there was no GWL09.
