After a long struggle to save the original black door rubber i have finally given up repairing it as the door rubber is perishing faster than i can repair it.

So out came the qaultex spare door rubber, I will get used to it, what i won't miss are the constant leaks from the old door rubber

Better to have a new pair of shoes than to let the water through.....

I agree.

I dont care about the colour of the door boot. I care that you have preserved a wonderful Hoover washing machine.

Its beautiful!

....I'm as envious as all hell if the truth be known...

If I thought that I could get one and ship back to Oz knowing it was in good working order, I wouldn't hesitate...

...and I prefer black rubber too, but the grey just makes it look more modern than it is.... ;)

Think you made the right decision there Gary!

My god, the black seal is turning molten.
Can understand now why you were having issues with the doorseal - think you were fighting a losing battle with that one.

The grey is certainly different and will take a bit of getting used to. But, remember, that is a phase that many 1970s hoovers went through in their lives. Yours is just going through it 25 years after all the ohers did!

She be water tight now and thats all that matters.

Paul
