LOL on the heavy/wet spining on those bigger items..... I remember that my grandmother's Westy slant front would practically walk if too out of balance but, amazingly, if the out of balance wasn't extreme it would certianly shake the house and sound like it was coming apart but, it never did and lasted them 30+ years before the outer metal tub got a rust hole and started to leak. They replaced it with a Whirlpool TL in the early 1980s and the Westy sat out in front of my grandfather's small engine repair garage/shop for a bit then gone. I could just kick myself for not being a little more insistant (respectfully so) to my dad about getting it - think he thought it was silly for his boy to want such a thing..... man oh man I wish I had saved that one!

Well, enough crying on that one - hope to find another Westy deluxe slant front sometime but, until that happens, will be picking up a 70s flat front/oval window Westy space-mates set from NC later next week or later in the spring which ever ends up working best. Will be checking those thrift/goodwill stores too for more treasure - would be nice to have the 50s to go with my 70s!

BTW, if anyone should, by chance, come across a slant front Westy from, say, 1955-1957 give me a shout. What I'm looking for is the Deluxe Laundromat Washer and Dryer set that has the large gold color control knobs on the corners and the window on top that has the rotating display that is advanced by pressing the white button on the right side of the display (could be left side but thinking right). The large gold control knobs had an elongated "grab" that was used to turn the contol and was also the pointer that showed what part of the cycle the machine was in. Same for the Dryer..... seems Westinghouse didn't make these type of controls very long - maybe a year or two but it was on the Deluxe model. Lastly, I remember on the controls that when you set the cycle some parts of the background behind the little notch area of the moving dial there was a red color or white color which may have been to indicate the type of cycle the machine was in and it was on the right corner and the the left control was possbily for the water temp - I believe water level was set by a sliding control behind the door that was set according the weight indicator since the door was used to weigh the load.

Thanks!
