Guys, as you all know the drama and difficulty I have had with my A3110, just letting you know the latest on that motor situation.

Current motor I bought off Mark on ebay is still working very well, however the motor that my engineer managed to screw up is still with the engineer after I told him to take it away and not bring it back until it was fixed.

I rang the engineer the other day as hes had the motor since January. He says he is going to drop it back to me soon as he is putting new bearings in it! So either hes screwed something else up and claiming its the bearings or he never replaced the bearings at the time or didnt do it properly.

The noisy pump is still working fine as well, so not going to worry about that unless it starts leaking.

Either way im really chuffed with the machine, it washes so well apart from the other day I came back from Tesco with my shopping and the machine had decided to take a bit of a treck across the kitchen and dug its self into the lino!

Ok, a bit dramatic as it had only moved about a foot across from under the worktop and was at a funny angle but I thought it must have made some right noise when it did this!

I had washed bedding and a bathroom mat so I guess these were out of balance when it started its spin after the first rinse.

Anyway hope all is well at your neck of the woods :)

Go easy on her, she's getting on a bit. At 30 years old the A3110 won't last forever as a daily driver.

With regard to it moving across the floor, this is to be expected because there is no anti-balance protection at all. Personally I'd wash the bath mat with all my other towels, it's more likely to distribute evenly on spin.

Tom.

Hi Tom.

When you say she wont last forever what kind of things will not last, it has the latest logic drum in it with the turqoise paddles, has had a refurbed motor.

Pump can be replaced if need be, suspension etc are in great condition as washing machine has only had one elderly owner.

I do about 3 washes a week in it and I aim to get it serviced each year to check all is in good order.

Hi Richard,

Does it just have the logic drum, or an entirely new outer tub as well? Just be aware that many spares are becoming scarce for these machines.

Tom.

I think it just has the logic drum.

How can I tell if it has a newer outer tub?

post 394523 there is a pic of the rear inside not sure if you can tell from that.

I'm not entirely sure, I *think* the logic has the same outer tub as these, I think they switched to plastic with the New Waves.

Unfortunately the mechanics of Hoover aren't my forte.

Enjoy using it as your daily driver, and as you say 3 loads a week isn't that much. I do miss those machines.

Tom.

Gary also stated on the other post:

"Sounds as if you are enjoying it, which is good.

The drum paddles are from the eco logics I think, so yes this will have had a complete back plate and drum assembly fitted whihc should last years! as it is fitted with different and much larger bearings than the originals that needed adjusting every so often to take up play.

Gary"

So perhaps it does have the new outer tub?

I guess you couldnt fit the new drum without the outer tub?

I await Garys response on why this is so...

Thanks.

Yes, really I should keep my mouth shut because I don't really know what I'm talking about.

Hotpoint, Zanussi no problem, but I'm actually pretty clueless when it comes to Hoover.

Hi Rich,

Nice to know it's still running well. Hoover are pretty well known for "kitchen dancing". I remember my aunt veronica's old Hoover with the door latch bouncing half way across the kitchen for no reason at all lol. You really can't beat an older machine at times :)

bw,
Chris
