Hello there. I remember that there was a thread on here about how to change the water level setting;I have never done it; any advice for a first timer?

Hey Irishwashguy,

Here is the AU manual which has the programmable functions at the back of the book on how to adapt the settings

North American instructions a little different?

The instructions I followed were a little different (harder!) than shown in the Australian manual. Would have been nice to have the AU set up as it took me FOREVER to get it right (with Miele tech on phone -- I think I tried it at least 7 times before I could get in to programming mode).

Anyway -- here is what I had to do to get into programming mode in my w1215 model purchased in the US.

Start with the washer completely OFF.
1) Press and hold Start button
2) With Start button held down, press on/off once and watch for a dot to appear on the display
3) Release the Start button as soon as you see the dot appear
4) Immediately upon releasing the Start button, press and release it in rapid succession 5 times, holding it down on the last (fifth) time
5) Watch for the Start LED to flash -- when it starts flashing, you can let go. You are now in programming mode and can navigate to the various settings using the Buzzer button.

To do the Water Plus thing (again USA instructions seem to be slightly different than AU... annoying!)
1) I think you press the buzzer button once to get to selection #2 (water plus). The LED light should flash twice, then pause. The flash pattern of the LED light is how you tell which selection you're in. If it's only flashing once, press the Buzzer one more time to advance to selection #2.
2) Now you press the start button to toggle between P1, P2 and P3.
P1 = Raised water level in Soak, pre- and main wash, and rinse cycles when Sensitive is selected
P2 = factory default -- additional rinse cycle when Sensitive is selected
P3 = Raised water level AND extra rinse when Sensitive is selected

If you want to stop here, with the desired option selected, turn off the machine using the on/off button.

Otherwise, proceed to Selection 10 to get Level III Soft Water level rinsing for all cycles.
1) From where you were above (selection 2), press the buzzer 8 more times to get to selection 10. The LED will flash one long flash, then pause.
2) Press the start button once to change it from P0 to P1.
P0 = Level III rinse NOT ACTIVE
P1 = Level III rinse ACTIVE

Now with P1 showing, turn the washer off by pressing the on/off button. It should store both selections you made. Hope this works for you! (And thank you to Eddie for sending me the manual!).
