I've been traveling on business so I haven't had time to put into my Bluebell wringer until this weekend.

As suggested, I purchased a stop ring to keep the agitator from floating off the shaft, but I before I install it, I wanted some pointers since I don't have an instruction manual.

At the bottom of the spline before the shaft goes into the tub is a grove that feels about the same width as the stop ring. Is this ring supposed to be seated in this grove?

Should the ring be put on dry, or would Vaseline help?

Bill ... yes the stop ring needs to fit inside the "groove" at the bottom of the agitator shaft.

No ... don't use Vaseline; it will be too hard to handle. Just wet the stop ring with some water. It will stretch better and you can work it down the agitator shaft.

Make sure, however, you lubricate the agitator shaft well with Vaseline before you put the agitator back on. Use about 1/4 teaspoon or so of Vaseline on your finger.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info... I was afraid using Vaseline on the stop ring would destroy the ring's grip on the shaft.

Also, sorry about the "Grove/Groove" thing. They actually taught spelling when I went to school, but I've gotten lazy and just look for the "red waves of error".

Hi Bill ... I didn't even notice the groove/grove thing; I read groove. :-)

Yes ... the Vaseline will make it too slick; I've made that mistake in the past.

Also, if you can't get the old one off, just use an Exacto knife or something like it to cut it off.

Did you post pictures of your "Blue Bell" and I missed it? They remind me of a big canner; I like them! Sort of unique.

Good luck and happy washing.
