this saturday checked the local salvation army and noticed a hotpoint dryer that
appeared to be from around 1969-72 years;had the same oversize backsplash and the
same knobs as my old '70 HP washer had(if only the matching washer was there!!)
apparently all the HP dryers were GE built?Dryer had just came in and wasn't
checked or priced, but if its still there next week i might grab it.

Hotpoint made its own dryers at the Taylor Avenue factory in Chicago up to the early Seventies. For a couple of years during a transitional phase, the dryers were GE clones made in Louisville with old Silhouette-style Hotpoint consoles. Examples: the dryer in this ad for a 1967 TOL pair is a  Hotpoint through and through; it's 31" wide, has a small door and its innards are all Hotpoint:

Love to see a picture of what you're looking at

In this ad for the second (and last) version of the Duo-Load, we're very close to the end of Chicago's Hotpoint. The dryer is all GE except for the control panel. It's 27" wide, has the full-width GE door and its innards are all GE:

was like the dryer in that 2nd pic-only the one i saw had two small knobs instead
of three,so must have been a lower model.
