From the pictures I've seen of Robert's collection, I think I see the exact Philco Bendix Duomatic washer/dryer that my Mother had when I was a wee lad. I used to spend hours watching this machine - fascinated with it's workings, noises, etc.
It is in picture #6 of his collection to the left of the turquoise machine. If anyone has any more pictures of that washer I would be SO happy to see them. A video of it washing, spinning (love that two speed spin!), etc. would make me even happier! This was the machine that started my obsession with washing machines. Thanks, A.W. members! |

We washed a load on Saturday night in this washer, one of my favorite front-loaders. I spent hours staring at an ad for this machine that I swiped out of one of my aunt's old magazines. I desperately wanted a front-loader at home, you were very lucky to have a fun washer like this growing up!
I don't have any full-frontal shots on this computer, but there are more around for sure. |
