I hear it all the time. Not many people are that smart about their home economics or the brand name of appliances they have at home. They look at them like most lawn care ignoramuses would a Lawn Boy."It's just a lawn mower. What difference does it make what kind it is?" I had some female customers call their Frigidaire washer a "G and E" only because it was purchased at the Gas and Electric company. But, most claimed their washer is either a Whirlpool or a Lady Kenmore. Then, I'd go to their house and find that it's a GE/Hotpoint or a Frigidaire. However, if I asked them what kind of vehicle they drive is or who their phone company is, they'd know without a doubt what the answer was.

Well, if some of the above is true, then generic bleach is CLOROX, and a store-brand cleanser is AJAX, and a private-label window cleaner is WINDEX!
Worked at one place & kept hearing "SHIELD-O-SHINE", which was a brand name for stainless steel cleaner no-longer used, or really used long-before I was working there... It got replaced by a more simpler, one-name product, I'd never heard anyone mention: GLINT... (Guess I wouldn't, either; "Steel Cleaner", for me, then!"...) -- Dave |

I did not see a price. The poor soul did get the model numbers. I wonder why he or she recognized one as a washer, but not the other. It's not like one is a wringer and one an automatic. |
