I took 2 old Maytag Neptune washers one having very noisy tub bearings, and another with a bad computer to make one good unit wich is still running great.I`v been doing this type of thing for years with all sorts of machines & appliances.
The Frigidare dryer was a return from a set that the washer had problems. The washer was fixed & resold, but the dryer wasnt so I purchaced it,and a propane conversion set since I`m rural with out natural gas.
Both been good runners so far. I know Maytag had trouble with these tub assemblys and seal falure wich water enters the bearings making them noisy. maybe the seal drys out if door is left open when not in use? who knows.

Here`s my vintage set ........

This is the old set I retired 6 years ago..
The Westinghouse "laundromat washer" I received in 1984 had to fix the pump, then a loose baffel. In 1987 had to tear it down again to replace the seal, and tub bearings.
The Maytag gas dryer I bought at St Vincent store in 1987 the auto dry didn`t work so I installed a battery charger timer to make it a timed dry unit. During one of my maintence checks I found that a brush from the drum to the frame was missing wich sent a signal to the autodry brain. I replaced it using my MacGiver skills using a old brush from a old power drill. the auto dry was working now so the charger timer was unhooked
The duo are in my collection

Replacing the tub bearings on my front load westinghouse
My buddy Alan was shocked and said "It will never work again" I proved him wrong several hours later it was back in service

neptunes

i have '98 MAH3000 neptune on daily driver row-bought for $25 and fixed it;had the
shorted wax motor/blown triac on control board-common problem on early neptunes.
I like the unique sound of the "switched reluctance"drive motor used in the early
neptunes.
