Ive used their Powder once but I prefer the bio/colour tablets as i can use one tablet per wash and top up the drawer with some soda crystals, and the wash still comes clean.
Almat powder to me tends leaves clumps in the drawer, was good at cleaning, using Lidls Formil Bio powder at the moment which is excellent and saves me money. Love Aldis softeners especially the naturals range, using the macadamia oil conditioner which smells fantastic, and its very light too, and just gives me a light hit of fragrance. I may try their 2in1 blue box powder which is tropical oasis when i next need to get detergent as i have loads already. |

I wish our Aldi carried it. We only get the Liquid Tandil here.

Have done a few loads with this powder and the results were quite pleasing. I had to put the powder in the drum as Zanussilover said it does not flush away and clumps terribly. Just done a load of white clothing, Tshirts, socks, underwear at 50 deg. I was shocked to find it had not got the bottoms of my socks clean ( they weren't very dirty in the first place ) so it is back to Persil for me.
All in all Almat powder is ok, not too keen on the smell, alright if you are on a tight budget but would certainly need a stain remover to boost performance. |

Just finsihed using the 2 in 1 variant.
What a load of crap that is.Ended up using it to wash woolens delicates and coloureds. Very little cleaning power for whites so been on ariel tablets for that. Have tried and tried with supermarket powders and when all said and done you just cant beat Ariel Persil or Daz when it comes to whites. 50*c Paul?? LOL. get it turned up another 45*c. dirty beggar. :P |

has always been the best in my opinion and as its been on offer in the local JTF warehouse I have a spare one as well...:) 120 wash box for £11.99 + vat and they had 5 ltr of Lenor summer breeze for £4.99 + vat so thats not bad! Must admit though have got a box of Ariel colour same size and cost as the others but am sceptical as always had powder mark issues when using with blacks so have tended to use liquid.
In the same warehouse I found a bottle of Radion super concentrate bio liquid have used it to wash the dog bedding and its surprisingly good really cheap too also got a bottle of Almat bio liquid and its scent reminds me of Ariel liquid will have to see if its as good? Austin |

I always used to like Ariel until they changed the scent and it became a strong piney lemony scent. I like the smell of Ariel Colour Powder as it smells like Ariel Bio used to. As much as it may clean well, I like my laundry lightly fragranced, not overpowering.
@Hoovermatic, do you have the latest Which? detergent test results for 2012 I love Daz tablets as they smell good, but haven't used them in a while, i used to use them years ago, they have that vintage 90s Daz Automatic scent. |

Thanks for taking the time to type out all that info. I gave up my subscription to Which? when my hubby lost his job last year. Now he is working again I maybe will re-subscribe.
Interesting to see Daz tablets performed better than Persil Bio Tablets. No mention of any Bold products though, I presume they did not test them. As I have probably mentioned before I love the smell of "blue" Bold but it sends my machine into a tizzy with suds lock with a big load of cottons. Also cleaning wise it could be better. Back to the Aldi flavour of the thread, I noticed tonight they have repackaged their concentrated laundry liquid range slightly but no mention if it is due to an improved formula. |

I think Bold wasnt tested as it was a 2in1 detergent, noticed Fairy wasnt tested either, or Almat Powder/Liquid nor was Ariel Excel Gel or Bold Gel tested either.
and Daz powder wasn't in there either, but the tablets were. I noticed that Almat has changed their liquid and made it like Persil (effective in 30 minutes) |

The new Almat liquid is quite good, haven't had a chance to test it on anything really dirty though. Think I'll just use it for joggers and T shirts I wear in the house. Smells quite nice.
Was in Saninsburys yesterday and bought a small box of Ariel powder as I was getting bored of Persil. I must say it did not smell as strong as the last time I used it and didn't foam as much either. Also it appears to whiten better than Persil. |

I recently bought some Aldi Bio liquid, and it did smell quite nice, unfortunately I did a load of colours with it, and when i put on one of my tops, i was itching like mad, had to rewash my clothes in another detergent.
Got some Daz tablets because they got 87% and pleased to say that they are exceptional, I washed my mums new white cotton bedding which had hair dye on the pillowcases and it came out perfectly and the bedding was sparkling, and the smell is amazing, i prefer the scent of Daz to Ariel, unless its Ariel Colour powder. |

Yes, the Daz tablets are great. I'm proud to have sparkling whites when I put them on the line, they look so great compared to everyone elses yellow dingy whites which are all washed together with darks on a cold wash.
Ive started to dry dark washing on the clothes horse inside now the weather is getting warmer, so my coloureds dont fade. As for fabric softener, I dislike strong smelling ones, the supermarket own brand ones tend to make me itch, but I'm alright with Aldis ones and Comfort Lenor. Paul, check out my stash thread, and take a picture of your detergent stash if you have one and post a picture. Kyle CLICK HERE TO GO TO zanussi_lover's LINK |

I don't have a detergent stash, just gave a load of stuff away to my sister including the Almat Bio powder and Almat liquid.
Liberator deluxe, I have no experience of water softeners. As mentioned previously I am currently using Ariel powder for my whites and Excel Gel for everything else ( apart from woolies, I have Woolite for those). I stopped using Ariel as it used to send my machine into suds lock on just about every load, also my hubby didn't like the smell. I think Ariel now is a lot less foamy and doesn't seem to have such an over powering smell. I have on occasion bought detergent specifically for colours but usually I just use a liquid or a gel. Does anyone know if liquid laundry detergents contain fillers? If you put some detergent liquid i.e. Persil s+m in clear water it goes cloudy. Does that mean it contains fillers? |
