Hi all,I already asked about this here last year but had no enough time to check and go ahead then as I had a lot of work, by the way I had many different suggestions and opinions from changing clutch to disassemble it, solenoid issue etc... so I was not sure and I kept my washer working anyway.... but I can say that the solenoid works as it moves changing speeds so it's not that went.
All started when probably a kid, a nephew of a friend was around the washer and I suppose he pressed the normal switch button when was on gentle speed playing with it.....
(It was bout a year ago)
This afternoon I've been about to make a check up and surgery to my washer, another new belt needed (second in 2 years, cheap parts) and a leak that I noticed yesterday, fortunately I discovered being just due to water dropping from tub borders on spin as cause of an heavy over-load,(top panel seals went bad also).
Issue is another here:
Well, absolutely layman of GE clutches and operation ( I can't really figure out how that stuff works)I say that looks like like the clutch and solenoid are out of sync, May be? I just know that solenoid have to engage that stuff in the clutch or release it based on speed...am I rigt? I
In the past I got my washer working on normal speed only just by turning with my fingers that stuff under the clutch.
This evening I tried to understand something more, seems to feel that my clutch is like a model that a member posted in a thread time ago, I will attach the link, Turning the stuff inside (counterclockwise) I felt like the solenoid arm was stopped by the clutch, lifting the solenoid arm it passed over and running washer it was on slow speed, doing the inverse comes back to normal speed , when is on normal solenoid arm is still blocked in place toward bottom, I want to fix it, now is making a clicking noise durning wash and spin, not sure if it's the solenoid arm or the clutch that is banging....obvious the fact that there's something wrong.....

Can you understand anything by this description?

Thanks
Freddy

P.S Thank you tho those who helped and offered help for my previous issue ( transmission and oil in tub) it was just the tub shaft seal that needed to be pushed a little...it works fine now...thanks again anyway to all!

I am just puzzled as to what your having a problem with!.....

the clutch

the solenoid shifter

no low speed OR no high speed

and when is the clicking happenning?

Sorry I've been not that clear.
I'll try to explain better:
Now is running on normal only as by turning the stuff inside the the clutch unit with my fingers I can get back to normal and slow speed depending to the directions I turn this thing, I feel this thing being kinda oval with 2 springs on borders, so mine should be like the one of the link but I may be wrong, I can only go by touch... the solenoid works as I can see that it moves up and down by pushing speed buttons but it get stuck then, when it runs on normal speed (as by turning the stuff in the clutch I managed to get now) the solenoid shifter get stuck toward bottom, I guess it's forced somehow to stay in that position, I noticed that the shifter does not get stuck when turning the thing of the clutch I get it running on slow speed....
About the noise I just hear an occasional clicking noise that looks coming from motor but not sure if it is the shifter or clutch that is banging.... clicking noise started last day when I tried again to understand something touching solenoid shifter and clutch....just did a load and didn't hear that noise this time.
A video may help?
Thanks

a video would be a good thing to see if you can get a camera in there....I know its hard enough to see as it is.......

have you tried taking the motor out onto the floor and operating it, while trying to hold the outter hub of the clutch still....wondering if the chattering is inside of the clutch......it could be as simple as the clamp inside holding it to the motor shaft is loose or broken.......

I get chattering on one of mine when on low speed, and thats just the little finger hitting the solenoids arm while the rest of the clutch is spinning....no biggie there.....you can wrap electrical tape around the solenoids arm just to get rid of the metal on metal clicking sound...

also while the motor is out of the machine.....is the solenoid operating smoothly?....there should be a little spring attached to pull it down out of the way when not in use.......

let's see what you find and discover at this point.......

good luck and let us know

I will take a video tomorrow with the sunlight and eventually I will take off the motor, how can I understand if the clamp in the clutch got loose, i can see it without taking off the clutch from motor shaft? if not what't the procedure to take off the clutch?
Thanks!

you should not have excessive play in the clutch....this will be a clue as to the clamp having an issue of some sort

to remove the outter hub.....look thru the spindle that connects the pumps union, there is a pin in there that needs to be knocked out, and then the outter hub will lift off......this pin is PITA to remove...you will now have access to every part of the clutch......pay attention to where everything is.....

Oh okay sounds simple apart for the pin.
I wanted to take a video and do that on Sunday , I was just ready to do that when just after I read your reply and commented on another thread of a guy in need of help for his GE I received a call from my granma that fell from stairs, so I had to bring her to hospital and I've been very busy all day long, working week started and I always come back home late, I will take a video and remove the motor as soon as I can.

I will let you know how everything goes!
Thank you again!
