Not many details here but if the date is in mm-dd-yy format, it's something that's been suspected since 2006. If it's yy-dd-mm, then 2011. The room looks like a testing rig and much of the notation on the side of the machine is illegible. CLICK HERE TO GO TO joeekaitis's LINK |

WhirlyKenmore78, there are at least 2 cases of Whirlpool made machines (Cabrio, Oasis, Bravos machines) exploding while washing mattress pads. They are just as bad as the LG machines.
The video joeekaitis posted is of a Kenmore Oasis (Whirlpool made) machine exploding. There are also videos of exploded Bravos machines on YouTube. |

A) Gotta get one of these! I have many comforters to wash, so we'd find out just how many cycles it takes to trigger the self-destruct feature. I ran six of them through my 2010 Frigidaire front-loader last month, but there was no excitement whatsoever.
B) I predict LG's "fix" for this problem will be to advise people not to wash blankets, comforters, or duvets. |

I actually own a Kenmore Oasis made by Whirlpool machine. I have washed mattress covers, comforters, and other large items with no problems whatsoever. I always manually set the water level to the highest mark. And if the machine does try to go off balance it always stops and runs a load balance correction. After the third time of trying to load balance if it still cannot balance the load it shuts off with an error code. I usually try to stop the machine and redistribute the load manually as it usually cannot load balance correct. I have had the machine 4 years and have never had a problem with this. It doesn't have a bulky cycle either. I use Normal, or Delicate for comforters, and mattress covers. Just my 2 cents. |

No machine EVER made can spin at over 1000RPMs with an unbalanced mattress cover in it. The major failure is the machines inability to control it self.
The plastic outer tub in the WP built DD washers are very trouble free, in the thirdly years these machines have been around our company has replaced less than a dozen of these tubs. Compare this to the thousands of BD WP-KMs and Many MTs and GE-HP FF washers that we have scraped because they had badly rusted outer tubs.
Newer cars even have plastic suspension springs in them and major parts of engines are made of plastic. |

At this rate with LG washers crushing themselves and anything nearby-buy your next washer at your local appliance swap shop-go VINTAGE-at least those don't explode and crush themselves! |

This is a very sound way to build a washer, WP BD machines did it his way for 40 years, GE FF washers did it for 34 years, and thier current TLs and just about ever other brand including all WP TL products do it from the top now, not to mention just about every suspended FL washer ever.
So I believe that the problem is LGs, but after all they just copy our stuff but they sure didn't test enough, LOL. |
