Hi Darren.

Supermatic, Thor and a Countess too (plus your front loader) - a lovely set of machines, you have acquired.

Be interesting to see how this thread progresses, as myself and Rob have a countess - alter circa 1970 blue version one.
In the future it too will require refettling,so having a detailed reference thred to look back at would be a real help.

Paul

This is how the machine looked when the courier delivered it . Worked and in good condition. The hoses needed replacement and a new paint job should see it ok . Really nice not having to do a total strip and refurb. Will keep you updated. Darren

especially the pahway of the controls down the tub to the electrics.

Do you have time for a tub & agitator shot?

Thanks.

HI there, Great looking machine. Tell me if I am wrong, but it looks like you have an AGA too? How cool is that? Gary

Great pics Darren, looks in really good nic, where the pipes dried out?, have never taken a tub out, was it easy??

Mickey, great minds think alike, that was the first thing I thought about, I had never seen this type of machine from the "Inside", I assumed the red switches had wires etc, not perfectly designed flat rods connecting the switches to the gearbox, drive and pump...

Cheers, Mike

Darren, Machine looks to be in exceptionaly good condition. The bolts holding in the tub are sometimes virtually impossible to remove and the top of the drive shaft tube is often holed with corrosion. Could you please inform me from where I can obtain replacement hoses ?

Thought you may like to see a shot of the gearbox internals and I can post pictures of a recent replacement of the agitator drive head if there is any interest.

We have been using a Countess continually since 1963 and is still our only machine.

All the Best,
Dave

Replacement Hoses

Hi Dave really good to hear your still using your Countess as a regular machine. What repairs are you doing ? It looks like a serious restoration with the gearbox being exposed . The coil on the motor looks like new. Have you had it replaced ? I have had lots of help from a chap in Lancashire who runs a spares shop. The hoses i have used are not original but are really good matches. If you email me i will get you the contact details. Look forward to a few more pictures if you get time. I have sent my Countess to the spray shop so looking forward to see the end result. I was very lucky that the machine was working and in good condition you can see from the agitator its not had much use. I will put a few more photos on when i get it back. Good luck with your repairs
All the best Darren

Deffo keeping watch on this tread Darren.
Some superb pictures of the inside workings of Countess'es and excellent that there is a Countess still in everyday use in Tewkesbury. Congratulations to Dave on maintaining your machine in working order.

Below is mine and Rob's final version model 1200 Countess, with the dark blue detailing...

Our machine is date code 64, which equates to April 1967...
