Northern Fairy Tails begin with "Once upon a time..." Southern Fairy Tails begin with "Y'all not goinna to believe this sh**. I was visiting a local Habitat for Humanity Resale store on John's Island SC. I've been on the hunt for a dryer but came upon something really big. An Avacado Norge dryer!!! Now I'm not a Norge person but fell in love with it and decided to get it. It has a lighted pannel too! For those of you who know something about Norge dryers I have to ask. Where's the lint filter???? Secondly why does it have a switch to turn off the dryer tumble??? It's in good shape the model is DEJ 13500. I hope someone knows the age/year it was made. (Yes there is a pic see link I'll try to get a better one) Man this thing is big - 31 inches wide!!!. Any way while I was looking around I came upon outside in the junky stuff a Figidaire WC-DAL!!!!. The wiring diagram is almost gone but the date on it says March 1966. The agitator is in great shape and barely any rust. It even has the cap and the detergent thingy inside!!! My digital camera is acting up but I will try to take more detailed pics. The guy helping me load it says it does not work but you know I'll get it to work. Right now though it will be in storage until I get a home but I can count on you guys to help me. I've not been this excited about Christmas in a long time so this was a present to myself. Joe, that Norge dryer looks to be the match to the VHQ washer that's POD here in a Tide Commercial. It's probably TOL and the first year Avocado was THE new colr, if that was 1968 or 1969. And it looks like it has the 3-in-1 door that opens partway as a chute; flat like Kenmore/whirlpools; and then will go all the way down right next to cabinet so you can get the basket right at the door opening. I rarely used the flat position, choosing the chute position for transferring laundry from washer to dryer--worked pretty well. The other position was where I could put the laundry basket right next to the drum opening and pull clean stuff out. The lint filter IS at the bottom front behind a spring-loaded narrow horizontal access panel. |

Joe, that door open button is waht clued me into what type of door it was. It's knotched sturdily in each of the first two positions, you have to give a bit of downward pressure to get it past the "notch". If the lint filter isn't inside the drum/door front, then it has to be down at the base. I can't imagine anywhere else it owuld be. Norge to my knowlege only had to places for their filterss: at the base behind that spring-loaded hinged small panel or inside the like where a GE would be or a modern maytag.
