Per my original post http://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?43319 I'm still at it with the 1-18 dryer. There is so much I don't understand when it comes to diagnosing this. In order to test the heater do I have to remove the 2 wires from the heater? How to I test the motor start switch? What about testing the timer? |

Yes, remove the 2 heater wires before testing. Of course unplug the whole dryer first. You should have conductivity between the 2 contacts proving that the heater coils are still in one piece.
If you or anyone else has a wiring diagram of this exact model, it would help tremendously to post here before we give many other answers. What is the model #?

With all of the personal health problems (bad discs, other neck & back problems) I've had, I can't remember much of what has happened over the last 2 1/2 years. I've truly missed appliance collecting and restoring.
I'm getting back into this gradually over the winter and if I'm able to, I'll jump in with both feet in the Spring. Thanks guys! |

Nice to know it works! Rich, if you still have others, I'd be interested in having a spare too!
Today, I also got a NOS part for my 1-18 dryer that I've been searching for a while. It was the missing drum light lens that I was looking for in the thread in the link below. I was quite lucky to find it as it was listed as a refrigerator part on eBay!

Phil,
Please email (use the one in my profile) me your postal address and I'll get one out to you next week. Glad you found a 1125577 lens for your dryer. I show that I have at least 2 in my inventory, but I looked through about 20 parts tubs and didn't see them yet. One day, I'll get some help organizing all my parts. Are there more Pittsburgh members whom I've not yet met? Everyone - I still have a few dozen other NOS dryer elements - most in sealed boxes - if you need any. Attached is a pic of a very hard to find dual element stock #7533744 for my DIN that I started to restore 3 years ago. Joe - glad I could help with the element. Happy washing & drying. Rich |
