I'm with you, Paul! And, right behind THAT one, is "ringer washer". Makes me want to grind my teeth and spew obscenities. |

I am also with you Paul, but at least they didn't call it a Combination Washer-Dryer, LOL.
This would be among the last WWs built by WP for Sears 1966-71, these were very good machines and the fiber-glass wringer shroud was a good thing, never saw a problem with one, this was also a much safer and easier to use wringer than Maytag's or Speed Queens. |

Wouldn't it be something if that "dryer" could in fact dry, rather than, unfortunately, only wring.
I saw one of these in the flesh at Walt's of Gasport about 5 years ago. It is Lady Chrome's less pretty and chunkier sister, but DRAT, I never thought to check the model number to learn her DOB. So, JOHN JOHN JOHN, I would have bet the farm that the longer horizontal panel came before the shorter vertical panel. Are you sure this is the latest and last iteration of the Visimatic? I will yield, but can we get a model number on this big Olive Girl, so I can put my finger in the wound before I believe? Doubting Thomas PS: If you're right, I will have learned something amazing. Is the machine above, therefore, made after the machine below? |

Hi Michael, Yes the chrome wringer is older than the Fiber-Glass plastic shrouded machine. They also removed the release bars to give the user a better view of clothing going through the wringer. On this wringer design you merely had to push or pull on any part of the wringer housing or even pull back on the clothing [ or your hand ] as it was going through the wringer to release the tension and STOP the rolls from turning. WP built WWs also had a marbled pattern so you could see at a glance that the rolls were moving for better safety. |
