I saw this around 8L30 pm today... had to get the truck ready (fill tires, put plywood/appliance hand truck in back, gas up, adjust idle, etc). Finally got to the location by about 9:30, but of course it was all gone by then. The notice was posted about 1:30 pm, Claremont is a busy street, so I figure it was probably gone by rush hour.

Anyway, I was interested because it looks like it might have been one of those with a backlit control panel. Better luck next time! And since I'm planning on buying another one this weekend, getting the truck ready for travel wasn't a bad thing.

Yep - that guy was an A806 - looks like an early one too (66-71). You'll find another - don't worry. =)

Well, there wasn't any way, really, that I could have gotten to this one first. I don't have internet access at work (and consequently I get much more acocmplished:-), so the earliest I could have found out about this one was after 5. By that time it had already been on the web for 3-1/2 hours...

But tomorrow morning I'm going to see another one. Not quite as nice... probably an A606, but with the early blue panel and allegedly in mint condition (just needs dusting).

And the one I tossed back

Well, this morning I loaded up the truck for an 80 mile round trip drive to see an old Maytag. I thought it might be a 606, but it turned out to be a 108, with a date code of AG. Not sure, but I think that means 1981, although the seller said he was told it was an '89. In any case, I passed on the machine. It wasn't due to condition - it was in very good shape, with no major dings or chips (one tiny chip on a side edge), and the tub was immaculate. I just couldn't get too exited about a BOL washer. I'm sure it works fine and will last for years more, but... I'm holding out for something a little better. That the seller insisted that I also take a funky Whirlpool dryer at the same time may have something to do with my decision. Anyway, I passed on it, which was a waste of gas but I figure every machine I look at adds to my knowledge of the line.
