Elginkid and I have been working on Classiccaprice's 1964 Maytag A702 and finally were able to cut off the stuck agitator spline. Now I'm stuck. How do I remove the washer and old rubber seal shown in the pic so I can replace the mounting stem?

You just pry off the top rubber ring,[ if it is hard it may break into pieces which means it was no good anyway ] and every thing below just slides off, it may be a little stuck but you are replacing these items anyway.

Well, based in the fact that I couldn't tell that the piece in question was rubber, I'm gonna go with the likelihood it should be replaced!

There is a washer sitting on top of the rubber seal. How do I remove that?

First remove the stop ring seal as Combo52 mentioned.

Then tap the washer from underneath with a drift or other suitable tool. If that fails, grab it with a channel lock pliers and twist gently. Its probably just seized on there from corrosion and 50 years.
