I saw the post, but I have never worked on the spinning side of an Easy before except to release a spinner that was stuck to the drive shaft, so I could clear the drain port of lint. I've replaced a pump, torn a whole machine down to the frame, but haven't come across an Easy that would not spin. Mystified, I didn't know what to say, and was hoping the expert Easy repair whiz would see your thread and comment, but his is a later one with the belts.
It happens sometimes: people get busy and want to post but plan to do it later then forget. Other times they're all posted out from other threads. You can't take it personally. But it is surprising sometimes, for all of us when we go unanswered. It just happens. |

I have small experience with EASY SpinDriers. One has a bad transmission, and I believe the clutch for the spinner is often the first thing to go, so that one sits and donates parts to my working one.
My working one is very similar to yours, with those sliding gray handles operating stuff, all located in that control circle. Likely 1960 plus/minus 5 yrs.
My trouble with the working machine was all thsoe cable guides from the gray handles, broken and stuck. No transmission problems, but I had to follow the cables to where they hit the tranny and manually push/pull, then the spinner worked great. Are you sure so far that the cables function? I bought various lawn mower cable controls to get mine working, decent success but my probelms are cable-related still, not tranny. In every 2 or 3 uses, I do end up on the floor staring up at the underside to push or pull a damn imperfect cable.
There are various experts here, but also folks get busy for a few weeks with other stuff and don't log on. Try the "searchilator" for SPINDRIER and/or EASY, you'll find tons of old posting/pics/explanations, better than what I can offer.

We do NOT have full (or almost full) Easy skirts over here. This is a real first . Your panel is vintage classic mid-fifties when they sold like crazy. Does it say anywhere on the machine where it was manufactured?
Using a drain hose mod instead of the long drain faucet, I recirculated boiling water and white vinegar from the pump back into the spinner for about an hour and finally the spinner got hot and lubricated enough that I was able to pull it loose. |
