Hey gang -

A buddy tipped me off on this Speed Queen a few days ago and it's been haunting me since.

Before I even attempt to contact the land owner and hatch a plan to save this diamond in the rough from a very dangerous location (decomposing barn), I wanted to see if anyone out there has a spare timer dial and knob.

Otherwise I'm planning on forgetting about it.

Ben

Yeah.... not so sure that would happen.  20 foot drop off the back side, and a rotted out barn floor that it is sitting on.....

A sad ending for a fine 'Queen, I love the badge in the middle of the front panel.

So there's no way

to get it without the possibility of falling thru the floor?
So I guess calling the Fire Dept Ito rescue it is off the table!

When was the last time you saw one? There's your answer. SAVE IT. Even if the timer and knob are not immediately available, doesn't mean they won't show up eventually. The front panel can be straightened out at a auto body shop. Speed Queens of that era are so rare. Good luck!

Make sure your tetanus shots are up-to-date before you go fooling around in all that!

Calling International Rescue...   This one looks like a 57 (and I have a manual if you can save it) but for heaven's sake, don't put yourself in danger, Ben!!

Ben,

You'll get your "wings" if you go after that one, but seriously, be safe!

goatfarmer . . .

That's a nice device, probably good for lifting any appliance outside of a Chambers range!

No wings necessary...

...but maybe a prayer!  LOL

This would be a '54 Speed Queen.  If my memory is serving me well, I think this was Speed Queen's second automatic.  Robert found the first model within the last year or so with the full stainless top. Greg has a beautiful example of this washer and I've lusted after it for years.

Cory isn't kidding, and Kenny's suggestion may be the ticket, or at least something of the sorts.  We'll see if the land owner doesn't think I'm crazy and also will let me take a look at the goods.  More to come...

Well look at that!  I think I now have the motivation to make some phone calls over the next few days.

More to come.....
