Hello lads, the symptons you describe are because the suspension rubbers need changing, you can buy a Hoover suspension kit for this job, they are very often on ebay and they not expensive, it is a fiddly job but once you get to grips with it its ok to do, the only other thing you will need is a tube of Molykote DX Paste to lubricate the parts.
If you do this job one other thing to remember is the one spring is shorter than the other, the short spring has a metal bracket on it and this goes on the soap draw side, the longer spring does not have a metal bracket on it This is normal practise for the suspension rubbers to fail after about 3/4 years, they go soft and as a result the drum doesn't sit squarely on its mounts and will sort of gyrate around on a high speed spin.
