I have a DG906 that I'm still fixing up for my parents and I recently picked up a new control unit(pn 303049) to keep as a spare. From what I've been able to come up with in going through the archives here this should be a correct replacement for the original part(pn 302472), however, the colors of the dots showing correct placement of the wires have changed. Here's a photo of the original paper label. It's a bit beat up but all of the colors are still visible, though perhaps a tad faded. That one in the middle is supposed to be pink but it got washed out by the flash.

Here's the new one, and as you can see the colored dots are different. The box this came in also contains a small wiring harness that I think may be intended to adapt this part to fit the older installation, but it came with no instructions as to what goes where. I figure I can't be the first guy to have run into this problem, so I'm hoping that at least one of the Maytag experts on this board can help me out with a solution.

Yes, this control is SOMEWHAT different from the one used on the original 1966-1968 electronic control machines that had the wire-wound baffles.  Did the control come with an extra sheet of paper explaining how to use the wiring harness to adapt the 3049 control for use on a machine that originally had the 2472 control?  I have that sheet somewhere…..

The wiring arrangement for this control is somewhat different for reasons which are complicated and not that important to getting this control installed on your dryer.

Let me dig around and see if I can find that sheet...

Hi Mark

There were no instructions of any kind in the box, but the box does have a printed label on it with the part number 302472, so that likely explains why the harness is there. Somewhere along the way the instruction sheet explaining how to use the harness went missing. It'd be great if you were able to find one. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Sandy, that instruction sheet is actually from the electronic control that ultimately ended up on the DE806 that's in YOUR basement! :)

Now I'm really flabbergasted.

The long arm of coincidence now reaches from Waterloo to Minneapolis to Burbank.
