Where Can One Lay Hands On A Hotpoint/GE Parts List? |

This wasn't my idea. It was that lot, you know those persons who are the usual suspects.
Won a bid for what one thought was a few parts then yesterday USPS lands me with a huge and rather heavy box. Inside a rather dusty and dirty box (of course one reached for the Playtex before digging in) there are all these red/blue/white "Hotpoint" boxes along with lots of bags of bits. A quick search of the group archives found some of the things (such as a real pretty control knob for Hotpoint dishwasher), and that the prefix "WB" is assigned to dishwashers, but the remaining bulk is still a mystery. To avoid any unpleasantness including a conversation about it being time so see someone about one's *hoarding*, am going to probably sell much of the stuff on. This will allow one to recoup costs and hopefully make something towards a new dishwasher (see can be practical when necessary). But in order to sell things on one must know what one has got, hence my query. | ||

I'd be careful, vacbear58. Judging by the rather aggressive action displayed on the packaging, these can be used for wringing necks, as well---without leaving fingerprints!

Am looking at several options including perhaps a "vintage" unit.
Saw the 18" Frigidaire/Kenmore at local PC Richards and wasn't impressed. Ok it has a second wash arm under the upper rack, and sports SS interior, but those upgrades alone didn't move me. For one thing it seems like the newer units hold less than my older wash tower 18" version. Also from some reviews it seems there still are problems with getting the upper rack totally clean. Yibbles and what not continue to inhabit the insides of glassware (especially loaded towards the back of the upper rack), and so forth. As one has been rather intimately involved with the kitchen sink these past few weeks *LOL*, have noticed the hot water seems set a bit higher IMHO. Have tested it several times and at least during "daytime" hours it can reach 130F to even 132F. While still several degrees shy of the 140F recommended by Kitchenaid and GE for their portables, one thinks it might be something one can do business with. It would be nice to have a dw that is compact and portable but yet could take care of "all" ones dishwashing. That is pots, pans, mixing bowls, broiler pans, etc...., that sort of thing. My old Frigidaire/Kenmore 18" just wouldn't accept such things. This meant say after a day of baking or cooking having to wash such things all by hand. | ||

Bosch?
You mean that dishwasher you barely got several years of service from before it died? I don't think so. *LOL*
My Frigidaire/Kenmore may have been BOL and not the best thing on the block, but it gave nearly twenty years of service before meeting it's demise. Even so it is really a case of swapping out the motor and perhaps the pump (cheap parts, easily found and a somewhat simple job) to restore the unit to operating condition. | ||

It wasn't a Bosch, I had always dreamed of owning a Bosch, yet... I wasn't an owner of one until earlier this month. I had previously owned a Whirlpool Made, Upper MOL Kenmore Ultrawash... And quite honestly, at first I didn't exactly care for the Bosch as much as I thought I would.....
But... The love affair is here. And dare I say it, I'm glad our American dishwasher died. The Bosch has zero problems getting ANYTHING C-L-E-A-N. Seriously, it dries better, cleans dried on crap better, can handle "overloading" much, much better, it's just an all around superior machine. Not only that, but it's so damn nice to open it, and see it's well polished stainless steel tub. No more nasty yellowed or orange or eggshell white tubs, a common disaster from the often spahati night at our house. I think I recall you saying you don't eat red meat, so I assume this Isint a problem for you, but I find it a nice feature. Plus stainless steel retains heat better, improving drying and washing. I'd love to tell you more, but need to get some sleep, gotta wake up early tomorrow. PM Me :) | ||

GE nomenclature.
I can't be of too much help, but GE part number nomenclature is as follows:
WB = Cooking appliances like stoves, cooktops, ovens, and microwaves. WC = Disposalls. WD = Dishwashers. WE = Clothes dryers. WJ = Climate control (heating, air conditioning, dehumidifiers, etc.) WH = Washing machines. WR = Refrigerators and freezers. Hopefully this helps a bit, Dave | ||

Oh my! I can say pretty well certainly that the item on the upper right hand side of the photo is a door gasket for a front-load dishwasher of or around the early models. It looks the right colour and shape to work on an SD203 or SD403 (GE models from 1962/63).
On the upper left corner, the 'C' shaped item looks like it might be a clutch of some kind and right smack in the middle of the upper row looks like a thermostatic control of some kind. A rare sensi-temp control perhaps??

Perhaps this weekend will drag out and dig into the box to see what there is.
Know some of the rubber parts are something called "back flow" caps for garbage disposals. IIRC they are meant to keep stuff from being flung up and out of the sink when the disposer is running. There are at least two or more of the gasket things in different colors. | ||
