Missing is the round insert for the open space in the top rack. It was the last thing to go in and held saucers or small plates. It had bars that went side to side on one side and top to bottom on the other side so it was reversible. It was maybe 3 inches deep. Robert will know because his APEX has it. Whichever way it was put in place, it held the saucers, but the cross bars on the bottom side kept them from falling through.

Imagine not being able to tell if a tub is porcelain. What the hell have we come to?

I wonder if this is the one rinse model or the later two rinse model. CU said the second rinse made a big difference in performance. By 1954, it should have been the two rinse model.

Friends had one until the kitchen was remodeled and they got the telephone dial Whirlpool.

I am not sure if I will have any luck contacting the seller, but I have just tried.

I now have Robert's Apex Dishwasher, and I even have extra racks that came with it from another machine. (THANKS AGAIN SO MUCH ROBERT!!)

Mike

I am quite fortunate! I just received a reply back from my 12 midnight EDT phone text message to the Apex seller. He advised he still has the Electric Sink, and we will talk more on Wednesday. I'll update with more information later.

Update: Just talked to the seller and we have an agreement. The Apex Electric Sink will be joining my collection.

Thank you John (Jakins) for posting this in the AW forum.

Way to go, Mike! It's always exciting when there's an addition to the collection. Looking forward to pictures.

Thread #55429 is related to this thread. I am duplicating my latest comments here as well.

Mike

I did, in fact, add this Apex Electric Sink to my collection on Wednesday, August 13. A wonderful couple in Tuscumbia, Alabama, made me feel so welcome. They even invited me to have dinner with them.

Tuscumbia is the home of Helen Keller, and I learned about the local theatrical production of The Miracle Worker, the story about her life.

More on this Apex Electric Sink later.

Mike

Mike, I'm glad you were able to get this rare machine.

I usually go through Tuscumbia on my way to Mississippi; I think it's a beautiful town, especially in the Spring. I've stayed in nearby Florence several times, and have been to Helen Keller's home, Ivy Green, several times. Have never seen the play, or been there when the festival was being held.
