 And you don't have to worry about oil leaks with this one! Just be careful not to break the drain hose connection if you lay it on it's back.
Send some pictures of it when you're done! And the model/serial number to Ben's thread!

It sounds like the Crown model. One of Frigidaire's beat sellers of that era. It may have a window lod. Usually thow,there'd be a G in the model number for glass lid. The fabric softener dispenser was optional and may be something the original owner got for an additional $10. The Crown model had a 3 position wash temperature selector dial,a rinse temperature dial, a water level selector dial and a timer dial different because instead of a circular tone of cycles and time left n the timer dial the cycles were writtenstraight up either side,left or right sourt of like a traffic light at a drag race. I had a WCG5 and a WC 6 The first one was harvest gold and had a see through filigree glass window lid. I think Jon Charles got it when I visited him years ago with John L. I have had all the 1-18s made but,my favorite one was the last "Elite" Touch control Custom Imperial 3 speed in almond. It.had an interesting feature. If you set it for mini to small, it would only have slow agitation. Even if you set the cycle for fast agitation/fast spin, unless the water was at a level that allowed fast agitation without splashing wash or rinse water all over the place. I thought that was interesting that anyone would think.of that.

Well, it's mine.
It's white and still in the back of my Honda Element. It was running recently, and dumped a bit of water while being loaded on its side. The water was not disgusting!
It needs a new bed of nails filter and agitator cap, which are still available. I assume it might need a new filter holder, and I do not know if that is still available. The back-flow preventer is bad and will need to be bypassed or cleaned. Aside from that, it might just work. It is indeed a Crown series, model WC-7, unfortunately, it lacks a window lid and any sort of lights. How fast will it spin? Dave | ||

Laundry Room.
I'm still renovating :(
My laundry room is an un-holey mess! It's just a room with a concrete floor, 3 3" stand pipes, no electricity, no water supply lines, and machines shoved in for storage to get them out of the way while the rest of the house is renovated. Nothing is hooked up, running, or even set up yet. My house is a 4-family, and I do have a Maytag A208/DE308 & A308/ 1971 Kenmore 800 dryer set up on the other side. These machines are for tenants to use, however. I do plan on swapping out the KM 800 for a DE608 I've got lying around. While my apartment is being renovated, I am living out of boxes in a rental apartment with a Maytag Dependable Care stacked washer / dryer in the kitchen. Words cannot express how much I want this renovation to be completed enough to set up my man-cave / laundry room. I want to see about having a TV and a couch in my laundry room! I am looking forward to getting the 1-18 set up. I do have a WCI-63, but it needs a lot of work. The 1-18 should be fun from the start. I just hope this stage of renovations wraps up quickly so I can set it up. Dave | ||

Man cave coffee pot?
It's just one small step from a coffee pot to another dishwasher...
I FINALLY got the 1-18 out of my car. Thank you Elginkid for the assistance! I'll order a new agitator cap and bed of nails filter, because they are still available from Frigidaire. I've never been up close and personal with a 1-18 before. Should I replace the piece to which the lint filter attaches? I have been unable to look at that to see how it works or if it is worn. How is the agitator put together on this monster? Is each cone separate, or is it all one piece? The rubber diaphragm, for lack of a better word, is intact on the bottom, so far as I can tell. There are, however, chunks missing from 2 of the 3 plastic cones. If anyone has a set of cones around, I might be open to buying them. If they are unobtainium, I can try using some moldable epoxy to repair mine. I won't be able to get to work on my new 1-18 for awhile because I am still renovating my house, but this will be my 1st foray into GMFR washing. I do have a 1963 Custom Imperial washer, but it will need quite a lot of work in order to be usable, and that is a project for farther off in the future.  Congrats on the find Dave. The 1-18 cone is one-piece, believe it or not, and is held in place with a 3/4" nut on top of the agitator shaft. These cones almost always have chips in them, at least every one I've brought home does. Finding a chip-free one is pretty rare, and those who may have one may not want to part with them, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I normally smooth the chips out, if the edges are rough, and use the chipped Jetcones as-is.
Also, the pulsator on a 1-18 is a much more durable material than the previous generation of GM pulsator. I'm not sure exactly what material it is made of, but they don't deteriorate over time.

Dave------most 1-18 agitators have a few chunks missing after 40 years. It is one large molded unit, not individual cones. If the broken edges are smoothed from years of use, frankly they still perform darn well.
The plastic holder for the filter is usually the first thing to go in the filter area, but I found ones online within the last 2 years, and you are a pro sourcer/finder. Of course I've completely forgotten any PN's. Keep us informed on your house, it sounds like aggravating and rewarding fun! And you know we like pics of 1-18's Mark | ||

Agitator
Dave----While there are some broken-away bits off that agitator, it's truly average/normal for this machine. Sand or file rough edges and go to town! The filter holder is in place, check along both sides to see if chunks are missing or if the full bottom width exists along its entire 3 or 4 inches. Often the breaks along it allowed the filter to fall and break the cones. Very routine and still very usable with either no filter, or a filter holder replaced..
I can read REGULAR and PERMA PRESS on the timer, what's the third section? You aren't familiar with 1-18 action?? You are in for a treat. Loud and excellent turnover, great rinsing. The spin starts at slow speed, does a spin drain for two minutes, then kicks up to high-speed a bit before spraying begins. And wait until you see the circle of spray, it's thorough and complete. Then the spin stops while spraying continues for the rinse fill. Pretty unique behavior in a few ways. Let me check my basement, I may have a spare fabric softener dispenser to make your set-up complete(r). I believe the bleach dispenser was a rarely purchased option. Otherwise, it looks like you have 2 speeds and three cycles, that covers all the bases. One of these days I want a 60's solid tub GM Frigidaire, see how the heck they work. | ||

Congratulations for your find! I see that the pulsator has probably rubbed on the tub at the bottom. You might want to see if it still does that and maybe shim it so it clears it. And then put something to protect the tub from rusting.
I never had to do that on my machines but maybe other members did and could detail how to proceed for that! | ||

It does look like you have some rust starting at the bottom of the tub. I'd take care of that as one of the first things I'd do with this machine. Except for that one spot, the tub looks great. | ||
